I'll occasionally read the newspaper. It doesn't happen that often though. I read it for two reasons. One, I'm curious as to know what is going on in the world. And two, there may be an article or something that may give me an idea for a story. I must admit though that it is more for the second reason than the first that I read the newspaper.

I agree with you. I should read it every day. But I often find that I just don't for whatever reason.

It's very nice to see you have a new discussion again:) I don't have a habit to read newspaper everyday. As today the internet plays a main role in my life. I can find almost what I want to learn from it. So the newspaper isn't very necessary for me.

Guess it's a matter of the habits we have, because I have always found it
quite natural to read a newspaper every morning. I enjoy the variety of
articles, and the fact that I can return to finish something if I have to
leave to answer the door or the phone. Reading a newspaper also means that
we build up a relationship with the editorial line of the paper, and enjoy
or hate the individuals who write the personal columns.
The other thing is of course related to ones age, because todays generation
is growing up watching TV from the time they get out of bed, and shortly after
that they are in front of a computer screen, and they get their news from
those sources and the radio, far more than the generations of their parents
and grand-parents. Certainly makes for interesting family discussions, because
the various sources all put different spins and values on THE NEWS, and that
in turn adds colour to the exchanges between the age groups.
News has always been important to me, partly because I spent many years
working in the media, but my sons have certainly grown up with a much
more relaxed attitude to it, and no doubt they will be saying the same
when they become parents. The printed newspaper should always have a place
in our lives, but changes of technology are threatening that every day.

I have that habit of reading newspaper everyday at work except sunday for it is my rest day. I usually read the intertainment section and lifestyle section of the newspaper. I dont read the headline for i will still watch news program in the televesion at night time which is more timely the the newspaper. Happy posting.
