Under the discussion heading: "Hey, No Surgery For Me, Yippee!!" by mentalward, she and I got on this subject by describing a couple of weird accidents that could have caused us to have surgery. This gave me an idea for a discussion. The question is: "Describe the weirdest accident in which you've ever been involved" or "Are you prone to having accidents?"

To start with I have a friend that what you would call accident prone. It seem that she just trips over things or bumps into things. She is always cutting herself or bruising herself. We just laugh at her, but in a friendship kind of way, not to embarrass her. I don't have many accidents but when I do I have a good one, if you can call it that. 1. I was about 16 and helping a new friend, where I was living, put a dome over his swimming pool. Well the dome attached to his house which had a wire enforced glass extension that used to cover their patio. I need to lean over it to fasten the dome but my foot hit the glass, the wire enforced glass, and BAM I went right through it didn't just fall onto the patio from 10 or 12 feet in the air, oh no, I had fall all the way down into the basement steps. I landed and jumped up so fast. It was kind of a shock but I didn't think I hurt myself until every one came running to see if I was alright. I didn't notice all the blood around my feet and felt no pain at all but I had ripped my thigh muscles open all the way to the bone. I have a scar there and a little limp that only appears when my legs get really tired. 2. I had a car accident when we were going somewhere between 60 and 80 miles an hour. We had just bought the car and this was our first trip out of town. My girlfriend at the time was nagging me about the insurance and what we were covered for. Anyways I got annoyed with that and reached over to the glove box to grab the insurance pages. As I leaned over my hand pulled the steering wheel just enough to hit the edge of the pavement, right into a big hole at the edge of the pavement and we flipped instantly. I am not exactly sure how many times we flipped but I know it was 3 times end over end and then we started rolling over sideways across the highway. We rolled across the highway, into the ditch and before we came to rest we went back across the highway and landed nose down in the ditch. We never hit another car and we came out of it with only a few bruises. The weird thing was that it all seemed to be in slow motion and the only thing in my mind was to keep my girlfriend from flying past me through the window. Life is great and glad to be alive and kicking.

WOW!!! and double WOW!!! If other descriptions are as exciting and well written as yours, this is going to an interesting discussion. These two accidents are incredible and I'm really glad they came out alright. Sort of gives you a new appreciation for life, doesn't it? Thanks for the great response. Those are going to be hard to match.
