this has been an endless debate & much discussed in the world of academics of who should be our national hero. both are well-known personalities who fought for our freedom against spanish colonizers and each heroism is well done.
rizal was of man educated parents who belong to the wealthy family. all siblings of rizal was able to finish school. he was able to studio in Ateneo, UST & have gone to Europe & almost toured around the world for his studies. he has many talents such as writing, painting, sculpturing & fencing among others. he fought the spaniards thorough his writing of spanish tyranny critiscizing & exposing spanish govt defects. although he died by a firing squad due to false accusation. thus with all these info provided his charisma is super for the elite & intellectuals. rizal has a lineage of spanish & chinese.
bonifacio on the other hand was a son of a farmer who belongs to a poor family where all of his siblings wasb't able to fisish their studies. he worked at an early age to help his family. andres represents the filipino socitey where we are usually exploited, abused & maltreated. he fought for our country using bolos & guns thus his own sweat & blood was poured for freedom. sadly, he was excuted by his co-katipuneros due to jealousy & greediness. thus, his charisma is for the masses. he is a pureblooded filipino.
it is unfair to compare a fair rich man to a poor man, a doctor to a farmer, an educated person to a person who didn't even finished schooling.
but come to think if it... these two heroes have something in common regardless of the weight or what they have done, both have been brave & great filipinos of their time.
if they we're alive they would have been pissed off being compared. or just imagine if we could hear their souls they would have been saying, why compare us wherein we have fought for our country.
