the 1/2 hour habit

My daughter has a 1/2 hour habit. If she wakes up before it is time to get ready for school, she comes into our room . She climbs into bed between me and her daddy. And she proceeds to snuggle up and go to sleep until the alarm goes off. This is usually about 6:30 am or so in the morning. The alarm is set for 7 am.This happens maybe twice during the school week. On the weekends she climbs in and either sleeps or lays there until we wake up. Does your child have a similar habit? Or one that makes you say "hhmmmmm?"

I think that is a sweet habit. It is her way of feeling close to you both. My little sister who is 7 used to crawl in bed with me when she was younger if she woke up with a nightmare or before anyone. She would snuggle up and say she loved us and snooze back to sleep feeling safe and at peace. My niece did this to me parents when she was younger also till she reached 8 and my parents said she was to old to be doing that sort of thing. I would guess a child is never to old to snuggle if they feel the need to snuggle and feel close. Even now at 34 I feel the need want to be close to my mom and hug her tell her I love her. She is my strength sometimes.

That is cute. I like morning cuddly time with my kids. I should wake myself up early tomorrow and have morning cuddly time with my wife. I think she'd like that.

My son still does it. He is 8 years old and sometimes he snuggles in bed between us. He wants to be in the middle of us. I think that it was comforting and still is for him to feel protected. © ronaldinu 2008

Hello ersmommy. It was the same with my son who used to sleep together with us even when he started to have his own new big bed, especially in cold winter. Now my niece has a bed of her own, but she also loves to sleep on her parents' bed. I think that it might be the reason that the only kids feel lonesome sleeping on their own beds?

i think most of the children have this habit.not only when they get up but also when u watch tv and they will tell for some more minutes..also some time when in park and tell them will go they say some more time..so there is nothing wrong in it since even we used to do the same thing when we were small..i particularly had a habit in this 1/2 hour or soo habit.not only small children indulge in this habit even the adults indulge in this habit as a matter of fact normally when they get up in the morning.

Yes, my daughter does that as well. She needs to get so much sleep otherwise she doesn't want to get up. We just moved and she goes to a different school. So, she has to get up earlier than before. She is not used to that at all. I do enjoy when she comes to snuggle with me and her dad.

If my daughter wakes up before me she climbs into bed with me, but she does not normally go back to sleep. She will get up in my face and say, "Morning." My son will sometimes wake up and then fall back asleep on the bathroom rug if he is super tired still.
