Do you cook from receipes or can you? Give examples of what you cook for breakfast, lunch, dinner or even snacks.I can cook just about anything or try to.Is it a deciding factor on the costs of food or the healthyness? Do you grow your own food specifically for cooking? Fast food, and restaurants are good but your own prepared meals can be more rewarding.Microwaves can also be excellent in preparing foods and not just store bought meals.Let me know the thought that goes into preparing your meals.

I love to cook from starch yesterday i made a veggie toad in the hole and a meat one they both went down very well. I also enjoy doing stir fry's, shepherd pies and roast dinners. I can turn my mind to anything when i want to. I love to cook sweet things as well i always try to cook birthday cakes for all my children. And recently me and my two year old son spent an enjoyable afternoon cooking small cakes together. Okay it was a bit messy but the results at the end was good.

toad in the hole - Toad in the hole
Toad in the hole is a traditional English dish comprising sausages in Yorkshire pudding batter. I have included a photo so you can see what it looks like

Interesting I have never heard of a veggie or meat toad in the hole. I'm just hoping it's not like the toads we have here,ha,ha. I've never tried a sheperds pie yet,I have been thinking about making sometime. I love the sweets and chocolate my downfall of cooking just wanting to make deserts.

I can cook just about anything if I have a recipe for it. My husband's favorite is chicken carbanara. My mom likes my meatloaf and chicken pot pie. But with 4 kids I don't do alot of from scratch cooking.

Some good cooking it sounds like. Four kids though would be tough without something other than from scratch cooking, best of luck, and keep on cooking.

Hi Mommygirl! I never made chicken carbanara but I've had it before and it's very good. Then I saw Rachel Ray cook it on TV and she added eggs that were pretty much raw. I've never ordered it again because I'm afraid of the salmonella. How do you prepare yours? Thanks!

Our whole family cooks, well not the babies yet, but they will! We believe in teaching our kids to cook and not just the microwave or TV dinners. In fact we never buy TV dinners. I never buy sauces like for speghetti, sloppy joes or things like that as I make my own. Breakfast is anywhere from, pancakes or french toast with sausage or bacon with eggs on the weekends. Lunch and dinners change as in the summer we do more cooking on the grill, so hot dogs, chicken, my homemade hamburgers, ribs or something along that line along with macaroni salad or potatoe salad. Fall, Winter cooking, is chili, stew, pulled pork sandwiches and other things. That is a small list of the things we make.

I love families that have traditions of cooking and eating good food. This sounds like our cooking changing with the seasons, thanks so much for your comments.

Hi Ithink! I agree with you that it is important to teach children to cook. I never knew that my daughter was interested in cooking until I saw her watching the cooking shows on TV. I had never watched them before, so she got me interested in them as well. This was when she was only 5. She's 8 now and helps me with prep work all the time. She makes the best homemade biscuits! She's still a little apprehensive about the actual cooking part on the stovetop or using the oven, but she will do it when she is ready. My mother and grandmother taught me to cook so who else will teach her but me? I guess I need to give Rachel Ray and Paula Deen some credit as well. Thanks!!

my hubby is an awesome cook and cooks everything from scratch when he cooks. he is very good and learned when he was a teenager from his mom (he had to help make dinner while he was growing up and when i got home dinner was already made.) he loves to cook so i let him.

Hi there! I can cook and sometimes I cook some dish from the recipe! I don't cook breakfast, we normally just have fruits, juice and coffee. I cook fried noodles, pasta and sometimes I just make sandwiches for lunch. Rice and any dish with meat for dinner. There are times that I'm not in the mood to cook anything and just order something. Thanks!

I'm glad there are still people who do cook and not just eat fast food for every meal. This dicussion has been interesting to me just seeing how everyone enjoys their cooking and the different type of foods.

we are always cooking here[lol].Breakfast is the usual bacon, eggs, toast or sometimes we have ham or sausage. On other mornings, usually the week-end we will have french toast or sausages. For lunch its usually a home style deli sandwich that we make with ham, salami, beef, etc with cheese or a toasted tuna or grilled cheese.Dinner is a large variety of dishes. We can make macaroni, spaghetti, stew, casseroles, chinese,or the mashed potatoes, meat of choice, vegetables. We sometimes make cabbage rolls or lasagna as well.We don't like to keep having the same thing over and over again because you get tired of it.I sometimes don't know what to have anymore.[lol]

I appreciate the comments, you're making me hungry. Thats what I like having the usual breakfast maybe some kind of omelete, some hot peppers or sauce to spice things up. I also like oatmeal and cold cereals to change it up. Something fast and small usually for lunch. Dinner is like you say many varieties and I like trying new recipes in meats, sauces, spaghetti even different pizzas.

Most of my cooking is right off the top of my head. I tend to get an idea and just run with it, and see what happens. About the only time I use a recipe is in baking. I will use a recipe for the first time I do something, but while we are eating it our brains are always going, trying to think of how we could make it easier, or more to our liking. We tend to think that we can do a better, and cheaper, job than any restaurant could ever do, for us.

Interesting way in cooking and smart. I cook alot too but usually have to go back to recipes for referance. I also cook in a restaurant but simple things that really need no recipes.
