A new local WinCo had their grand opening today. I received a flyer in the mail with coupons which included specials like a 24 pack of water for less than $2, bacon for 98 cents, cereal for 98 cents, capri suns for 98 cents.
There were some excellent deals but of course I had to deal with a store jammed with customers and very long lines for checkout. I actually didn't have too bad of a wait, about 30 minutes. Do you go rush over to a grand opening? I will admit that I did only because my daughter was at preschool. I'm excited because not only is it right near her preschool, it is also open 24/7 - so next time I can go shop when I have insomnia and everybody else is sleeping!
They also had all 24 check lines open and people sampling things in the bakery area. Can't beat that!

noooooooo!! i hate the crowds. i just wait till they've been open awhile to go if i want to. my daughter-in-law goes to wal=mart when they have that big sale every year befroe christmas. gets up & goes at 5 o'clock or some awful hour. she says people are grabbing & snatching & pratically coming to blows, not for me. lol

*LOL* I hate crowds, too! The sales are nice, but not worth being trampled over! *LOL* So, I will just wait, too! :)

Hey mommyboo! That sounds like a great store! I wish we
had one of them here! I never heard of that one. I guess
it hasn't come to this side of the US! Too bad we sure
could use another grocery store here! It's too bad I don't
drive or have a car because I would do all my shopping
while everyone else was asleep! We have a 24 hour store
but they usually don't have much meat out overnight. That
is the only downside of shopping in the wee hours! I have
done it on occasion when I have gotten to go with someone
with a car! I love it! I like the store empty! I have
never seen a store with 24 check lines, never mind open!
Sounds like you did really well too! Those were some
great bargains!

We have gone to some grand openings - it depends on what it is for. It sounds like you got some great deals that were well worth the wait!

I will go if I free on that day and time. Sometimes I go and sometimes I won't go because busy with classes. But my mother sure will go. Sometimes she will drag me with her too. I find the situation is funny sometimes, seeing all the people excited about cheap things. Sometimes, there will be famous person as the honor guest for the grand opening.

I like to go t Grand Openings because like you mentioned they have deals. I will go and purchase thigns we need or maybe some extras that are on sale we usually can't get. It's nice to be able to get a good deal on this. Too bad these great sales don't happen more often!

I wouldn't even try to go to a grand opening. By the time you go there, there are like 1 million people already waiting in line. Also, all of the items might have all been sold. Some people arrive just as the store is opening which is like at 4:00. But never in my life will I wake up at 4:00 to go to some grand opening!

Dang well I suppose you live in the midwest or down south in the US but in NJ the only thing close to a WinCo are dollar stores and sometimes the deals are more trouble then they are worth even when the items that they sell in a dollar store aren't on sale you still take a risk at paying for an item that could be potentially past its shelf life and already expired or it could contain chemicals known to cause lead poisoning or fertility issues point is that no matter where you shop you can still find deals whether they are in a Saks 5th avenue or the local Walmart you just need to know where and when to look anyway I am glad that you are able to deal with the insomnia by doing some early minute shopping

Nah, I don't like attending these events which will be crawling with people. i want to shop in peace, thank you. But if there's a big big sale to coincide with the opening or launching and if I get an invitation to the vent, then I'll be there for sure! You can copunt me in! Generally though I don't want to go to grand openings just to help celebrate the new restaurant or store.

I go but i dont make a out of my way trip. As long as the grand opening is a reasonable distance and, as you my fellow mylotter said, good deals then yes i would go.
However i won't be one of those nut jobs lining up at the doors at 6am because of a GREAT deal. No thanks i'll wait for sales and i love sleep too much lol
