We Filipinos usually have herbal plants in our backyard.
We often have damong maria, oregano, and katakataka in our backyards to have an instant remedy for our simple sickness like cuts, coughs, and headaches.
We often use damong maria for our minor cuts and wounds.
We often use oregano for our coughs and we also use for it some menu recipe.
And the katakataka for our headaches and toothaches.
In our backyard we have those two herbal plants, the damong maria and the oregano. Before we also have katakataka but now only the two was left.
What about you do you have herbal plants in your back yards?
What are they?
How to use them?
Thank you for sharing.
Take care everyone..

We do have one, oregano plants. Oregano is believed to be a medicine for cough.Instead of buying cough syrup, my parents would just pick up oregano leaves and boil and make us drink it. So far it's really effective. Before, we also have aloe vera but my cousin destroyed its habitat so It dried up. Bad!

Since we own a little apartment we do not have any chance of planting medicinal plants at home, but I do remember when I was younger while we were still in Mindanao, since we have an enough space of homelot, people can find leaves that have medicinal powers.
I wish we still have a large area or a garden where we can put whatever plants in their.

Hello there! well when I was still living with my grandparents in the province, we do have a lot of herbal medicine in our garden, it ranges from kataka taka, oregano, bayabas, serpentina etc. We use oregano for our coughs and colds too and we use serpentina to remedy stomach aches. We also have kutchay and aloe vera. Kutchay is very very good on lumps (bukol) . kutchay is onion chive and it is also good on seafoods ha ha. Aloe Vera is good on the skin. My grand mother's house was big and they have big lawn too, they have many plants there and fruit bearing tree. Now that I live in the city, I have a pocket garden in front of my rented house and I do have some herbal plants there, one is guava and another is tanglad

Yes, at home in the frontyard is a small garden with herbal plants which are planted or they just grow there.
My dad has has planted in pots gotu kola a kind of ginseng because these herbs are the "in" herbal these days. Then there are oregano, sambong, lagundi and a violet leaf plant that are good for coughs.
Most weeds are herbal in nature but often times wed on't know the name and the uses so we just leave them as such. But there are weeds like the "salingkapaw" in the dialect which is used when someone has dengue fever.
