Everyone should volunteer at least once in their life. I work for a nonprofit group, so I do a lot. There is so much work that needs to be done in this world and I think its great when people take an active part in changing where they live. Why do you volunteer?

I was once a volunteer in the social involvement program in our school and i was assigned in the community welfare training service. we usually taught out of school youth to read, write and the values education. I feel happy about it, because your not only helping them but it also opens you to the real world. I believe that education is not only based on the four walls of the classroom but outside of it. the more you immerse with the people, the more you know their needs. So i've learned that a volunteer will always be a volunteer at heart.

It started as a class assignment that my daughter had to do. We volunteered for an organization that rescues cats and finds homes for them. When she was done, she said she wanted to continue doing it, so we have. We go on Saturdays and set up the adoption center and we are also fostering three kittens right now.

I am not doing any volunteer work at the moment but I used to volunteer at the hospital. At first, it was just because it was something I was considering for my school project but I later came to enjoy it. The work wasn't overwhelming or anything. I mostly cleaned gurneys, filed a bunch of medical records, cleaned up the lobby area, oversea the front help desk and help to direct visitors and brought dinner to patients. It was really fun. I got to interact the staff and I also got to meet a lot of the patients. That was probably the best part. I visited some of the patients and I could tell that they were happy to have someone to talk to. Overall, it was a really fun experience.

I volunteer not only to help make other's lives better but also to achieve a sense of self-pride and self-fulfillment. Volunteering is also sme sort of self-actualization experience for me. It makes me know myself better. And it is by discovering who you really are that you get to serve others best.
