Is Growing Mushrooms Easy?

Lately, I've been intrigued by the idea of growing my own food and becoming more self-sufficient. There are kits you can buy online to grow your own edible mushrooms. Has anyone had luck with this?

A friend of mine used to grow their own mushrooms, they used grow them underneath the house but I really don't think they tasted as good as the mushrooms I used to eat when I was a kid, picked straight from the paddocks, big field mushrooms, they were delicious...

That does sound delicious. Unfortunately, I live in a city so there really isn't any paddocks around here.
