if you are pregnant, would you want to have an ultrasound while heavy with child so that you can know the health, development, and gender of your baby?
i think at this present day and age, more people are resorting to having an ultrasound to know the gender of their babies so that they can prepare well for the newest addition to the family.
are you amenable to this?
actually, it is not only the gender that is being monitored during the ultrasound but the overall health and condition of the baby. i am having my ultrasound on saturday. and i am very excited. and so is my husband. this is our first baby and we want to be prepared. so at least we will know. there are so many differing speculations about the gender of the baby in my womb, and this will end on saturday!
anyway, we continue to pray for the wellbeing of the baby and his proper development.
how about you? would you still want to keep the baby's gender a mystery until he/she is born? what are your thoughts on this?
take care all and God bless you! :-)

If I am pregnant, I will opt to choose to know the gender of the baby. This is definitely useful for us to prepare the items needed for the baby as well as choosing a nice name. To know the gender beforehand, we can have more time to decorate the baby room that suitable for the gender and toys for the baby. Take care!

I had several ultrasounds with both children, and neither of them ever revealed what gender they were, they wouldn't cooperate...lol, but I instinctively knew what each child was, and planned based on those instincts. I am all for ultrasounds, not only to discover any outstanding health problems but also to find out the gender if the parents chose to do so. I hope this helps!!

First of all congratulations on your first baby. Second, if I will have a baby of my own I would certainly want to undergo ultrasound. Like you said it is not just for the gender but for the monitoring of the health of the baby. Many couples have the misconception of using ultrasound. They think that it is just for knowing the gender of the baby. They didn’t know that they endanger the baby by not having an ultrasound. Many babies are born unhealthy because of the lack of ultrasound check up.

hi spoiled311
Congrats for that first baby of yours, will first of all let me wish also for the good health of the baby. hoping it will grow into someone responsible and a good human being.
well anyway i don't have baby yet and husband neither, but let me share to you my knowledge with ultrasound. I've read anyway that it is good to have an ultrasound just once to know the health of the baby and at the same time its gender, but not more than one. Why? its because, based on the book i've read, ultrasound has wave that can also affect the baby's brain. and it is said that the very disadvatage of ultrasound is the inability of the sound waves to penetrate bone and gas.
I not really knowledgable with that but i'm just sharing you my ides...

personally, after having two children (well 1 and almost my second -37 weeks thursday) I have had two ultrasounds and mostly wanted to make sure the baby was all right. After I had found out that the baby was all right, I did want to find out what it was... and I did find out what both of them were... my first one was a boy and now I am having my girl... I dont know how people did it without knowing... but that is just me

When I was pregnant with our kids my husband never wanted to know what we were having. I would have liked to have known . I was delighted while being with our daughter when she was pregnant with our grandson , to be able to see that he was a boy without the tech saying a word . I blirted it out and the tech told aarika she hoped that she had wanted to know . Cause Gramma was right.
Our newest baby due in Jan is a girl .
Best wishes for you and your little one. Let us know what you find out.

Yeah, I definitely want to have the ultrasound scan. Actually every month I go for check up, the gynecologist will do the ultrasound scan on my tummy, and we will get to know whether the baby is healthy, what the baby size and weight is. Nowadays, it's not only for knowing the gender of the babies, but more importantly is to know the health condition of the babies. The gynecologist told us that, some problems can't be cured while pregnant, but at least we already knew it and when the baby is delivered, we already know what to do for the baby and how to cure the problems. Well, as for the gender of the baby, I never want to keep it as a mystery. I'd always like to know, so that when I talk to my baby, I know how to address him, instead of being ambiguous. I just got to know that I'm having a baby boy. ^_^

No, neither my husband or I wanted to wait until either of our kids were born to find out if we were having a boy or a girl. So when I had my ultrasound done during each of my pregnancies I let the technician know that we wanted to know. like you, we wanted to be prepared.
I have to ask, do you want a boy or a girl? Personally I didn't care, so long as my kids were healthy. But if I become pregnant again I hope it will be a girl as my husband wants us to have a daughter (we already have 2 sons).
Good luck!

Hey, congratulations on that first baby! I'll be having my first baby maybe on the last week of this month and oh boy! I'm sooooo excited!
Anyway, let me stop myself from starting a gossip about my baby, hehehe. Let me answer your discussion's questions first.
For me, resorting to an ultrasound is very practical. It will definitely help you prepare for the baby more realistically. Although my first ultrasound wasn't for the baby's gender though. It was for his fetal anatomy. My doctor wants to make sure my Little Nicholas will not have abnormalities and anatomy problems in the future.
There are some precautions though before having that ultrasound. I wanna share that nice site I found with lots of good information too: http://kidshealth.org/parent/pregnancy_newborn/pregnancy/ultrasound_snapshots.html Hope that helps! God bless you too... :)
