Im sure just about everybody has seen the commercial for this thing. how its supposed to trim nails safely and PAINLESSLY.
here's the description of the product.."Incredible Pedi Paws™ trimmer grooms your pet’s nails easily & safely! Unique rotating emery bands file any pet’s nails or claws gently and painlessly between grooming sessions. Built-in nail guide protects against cracking, splintering, breaking or cutting too close. Guards against pet scratches on furniture, upholstery and skin."ok..im seriously thinking of getting one of these things. i absolutly HATE trying to use the regular style clipper things! i always end up cutting too close to the quik and hurting them! and then as soon as they've experienced that its practically impossible to get the dogs to sit still and let my try to trim the rest! i just cant do it anymore..i feel beyond horrible when i hurt them!i would take them to the groomers to have it done, but one of the dogs is a snippy little brat and i dont want anybody getting bit...that and the extra cost just isnt possible right now..especially since the groomer nearest me wants $35 for 1 dog.
does anybody have this PediPaws trimmer? does it work? and is it really "easier" on the dogs themselves?

We have cats, so I really think they would hate that. It doesn't say how much noise it makes, but it must make some. It's fairly quick to trim their nails with a regular clipper. I hold and someone else clips. Even if the cats don't like it, it's over quickly.

ok. Me too _ I am hoping someone that has one answers you.
I could really use it too -- If it works like they say it does.
you still have to get the dog to sit still with his paw in your hand while some weird thing is touching his nail.. lol Not as easy as they make it look on TV I bet.

I don't see how the thing would know where the quick was. It's not like with human nails where the quick is at a stopping point. I think this pet nail trimmer just takes off a little bit at a time and that's how it's safe.
I haven't tried it. I wanted to get one for my 13 year old rabbit since he has really thick nails and he also has arthritis so trimming nails is hard on him. He hated the noise of the dremel though.
One of my friends tried this thing and hated it for her dogs though. She said she couldn't hardly get it to take any nail off. Maybe that's why it says it's for in between grooming.

I was wondering about this too because we really don't have the money to take our pet to the vet to get the nails trimmed. It would be easier for us to just use PediPaws instead. A huge problem though is I'm wary of anything that's seen just on TV. We had found the Shedender that they had sold on TV and that didn't work at all well. So I just wonder how well that would work.

yeah we have that Shedender brush too. it works OK, but thats only on the short-haired dog. the one with longer hair it just seems to yank it out, much to his displeasure.

The animal hospital I used to work for did nail trims for $16. However, I was thinking about something when I was reading all of these posts saying how expensive it is... a lot of rescues around here will do nail trims at their adoption events. Some just ask for a donation, others specifically ask for $3 to $5. If you live near some feed store or some place that does pet adoption events, you might try calling the group there and seeing if they'd offer that service and for how much.

I don't have it, so I don't know if it works or not. I have two cats, and don't think they'd like it. We bought one of the Finishing Touch hair removers a while back, and the cats saw one of us use it. Needless to say, the next time I saw it, it was in pieces!

I have a pedipaws and I use it on my 3 cats and 2 of my 3 dogs. This is not a good option if your animal has arthritis as the vibrations causes pain. But I do use it on the other family members. My kitties love it, not sure if thats normal but they do. And Pudge shes a St. Bernard/blue heeler weighs about 110. And she doesnt seem to mind it. You need to keep a supply of C batteries though if you use it as much as I do. But, in the long run its well worth the money spent. And most of the stores have them now and they only cost like $19.95 where I bought mine for like $39.99 Its awesome. Good luck!
