Did you hate Geometry in High School?

geometry - The group 1, having a hard time counting triangles.

Some students loved it, they even found it enjoyable. But a lot of them hated it. They didn't like familiarizing theorems and postulates, figure analyzing and proving mathematical statements. Just like one group activity given (shown in the photo). Some groups enjoyed it and answered fast while this group found it really hard to answer. It was nosebleed for them. Can you count how many? Did you hate Geometry when you were in high school?

I don't even REMEMBER learning geometry in school let alone know if I liked it or not! I couldn't stand accounting though and I used to get extremely bored sitting in that class several times a week. It was just mind numbingly inane for me and at the end of the year I ended up with a score of 2 and a half out of 65 for my final year accounting exam. The Teacher gave me 2 and a half marks because I at least turned up for the exam and wrote my name on the top of the page. That was all I bothered doing!

oh,to be honest,i'm not good at geometry.it's really boring.sometimes it took me plenty of time to work it out.sometimes failed.but i i had got to study it,just for nice scores ,i have no choice.

No. I loved it. I love math. I just suck at word problems.

Yeah. It's hard to take words and turn them into numbers. I guess I can only work with one side of my brain at a time or something.

Yes I did. I did hate mathematics whether algebra, geometry or whatever. I never got hold of it until I was out of school and I need the Mathematics Ordinary level. Therefore I put my head to study hard and get it. That's how I got hold of all the maths geometry theories, that I never put into practise into my real life.

I hate Geometry. It was the most agonizing year in HS. It was being taught in 2nd year in my school. I hated memorizing all the theorems and postulates. And I hated it because it's one of the reasons why one of my favorite friends got kicked out of school. Anyways, but now, I realized geometry taught me to think like a lawyer. But I am not a lawyer but the reasoning style.

Why was your friend kicked out because of Geometry? This is the first time I heard of a student being kicked out because of Math.

Oh, because there was one discussion about lines and and points, my classmate insisted that that circle is an example of line. Something like that. Anyways, they debated the whole year and there, the teacher did not like him and he got kicked out. But I was able to see him again when we enrolled in the same university.

I loved geometry in highschool.. i also hated familiarizing and memorizing theorems and postulates, but once -or IF- you get the hang of them, it's actually quite simple.. Proving was a mixed bag for me, sometimes I liked it sometimes I didn't.. Anyway, I'm just saying I like geometry compared to other areas of mathematics but that doesn't necessarily mean I'm good at it..;p

Proving statements is the most difficult part of Geometry. I'd prefer proving by geometric construction or drawing.

yeah, i did not like geometry when i was in high school.. i did not like doing all the lines for some shapes, and computing the sides.. either its not exact line or too big.. i like algebra more though...

You told it djoyce! I hate it! I hate it so much! I don't really understand why that subject has to be taught to students! I did not in a way helped me with my job today! I almost bled before I was able to get high grades in this subject. I don't want to remember anymore how I could hardly sleep because of that subject. I'm glad those days are over.

Hi, if you ask me now, I can't remember any of these. But I remember I loved Geometry in school, as I enjoyed Maths, one of the easiest subjects to score. All I had to do, is to remember formulas and theories!

I did not mind geometry but had a good teacher, hated calculus but had a bad teacher. I sometimes think a teacher makes a difference if they are good at teaching their classes. Nothing will help too much if you do not have an aptitude for it though, all you can do is muddle through.

I agree with you. It's really a teacher's factor. They should make learning fun and enjoyable so that the students will appreciate the subject. I guess, they should apply a new strategy for teaching Geometry.

well, geometry is a very interesting subject if tought interestingly. Some find the theorems, analysis and posstulates boring as they try to cram it up.But its easier if done after understanding the conecpt. And well,my geometry teacher was quite beautiful so everyone paid attention without missing any classes so that helped too !:)

Geometry and Mathematics bring me head aches. I hate anything that got to do with mathematics. I’m not really good in numbers though I manage to pass my geometry subject and my entire math subject through out college. Although I hate the subject, it is still a part of the curriculum and I have no choice but to learn it and pass it.

Normally I hate math, but I really loved geometry! I had a really great teacher which I think has something to do with it. He was so much fun! Plus he was hilarious! I always looked forward to going to his class. As for the triangles, I tried counting but I kept losing track of which ones I've already counted! I think there might be 20-some if I had to guess.

I agree. Teachers have something to do with it. Thanks tricki. You're the only one who tried to count the triangles. Well, it's more than 30....

I had a time with geometry. I could never really understand it and I never passed an exam with it. It was a bean for me. I still remember some of the horrors I had with this subject.

I think you had a hard time with it when you said "horrors" Well, we can't force ourselves for that if we really can't. You might be good in other areas.

I am among those who love geometry.content was really easy for me.I know it is true some other part of student don't like geometry .I don't know why?I really like geometry is because there are no much content to keep in mind. we only have to understand the correct theories and apply them to problems.

in my high school,to be honest,i'm not at geometry.while i looked at the curved figure and graphic,it's complex and boring.sometimes it took me plenty of time to work out one puzzle.even the answer is zero.but i'v got to study it,because i want to get nice scores.i have no other choice.but i enjoyed other subjects.like international business.very much.

Geometry is a good subject in a school.its used to improve students brain.why some one hate this subject, because they can't understand that problems, once they are solved the problem they also like this.

Yes, I agree that it could improve students' brains, because they use concepts in their critical thinking.
