Even if you have time, as a God Fearing Christian You SHOULD ONLY PUT YOUR TRUST in ONE GOD. As a Christian, if we read other religious book, we are denying CHRIST
I'm sorry but there is absolutely NO LOGIC in that way of thinking at all...Thats like saying if you read up on another country and their ways you are denying your own country...Thats just silly..

You said it Right stephcjh. Even if you have time, as a God Fearing Christian You SHOULD ONLY PUT YOUR TRUST in ONE GOD. As a Christian, if we read other religious book, we are denying CHRIST. If you truly love your parents then you'll never be influenced by wrong things. Don't get things wrong, I am not against any other religion. As a Christian, If you love GOD and TRUST him with all your heart you'll never be in want.
So why go reading about other religion when we have all that we need in ONE HOLY BOOK called the BIBLE??

Hi!I am a catholic but I am a friend to everybody whom I meet regardless of what their religion or sect is.I do not judged anyone from what religion they belonged. It feels good and amusing that we can all be together and be friend with one another even if we have different approach/views regarding our faith and beliefs. It is just a matter of respecting others so as to be respected to.My husband and I have different religion but it really doesn't bother us or religion is never a problem. For 19 years we are still so much in love.

I am and have always been the type of person who not only reads, learns and asks questions about other religions but I also encourage others to do the same...BUT just asking, reading and learning IMO ISN'T enough, one should IMO do it with an accepting, open mind..I think if more ppl did that in this world we would have half the hatred and crap goin on that we do..
I also firmly believe that those who DON'T and WON'T do it (learn) are just hiding the fact that they doubt themselves, their faith and their religion which really is a shame...Why wear the masks ya know...cause all you are doing is betraying yourself and in the long run thats a bad thing..

learning is part of our lives
Absolutely...its how we grow, evolve, etc etc so why one wouldnt WANT to learn about life outside their bubble of existance so to speak, IMO, is just strange..BUT I'm also a very curious woman LOL a Virgo through and through

I have read about religions when I was unsure of my own religion. I think that I have gone through a religious experience wherein I had no religion, was given a religion (moved in with a family of different beliefs) and was truly frightened but their beliefs that I am slowly going back to Christianity. I don't know if you could say that I will not have anything to do with people of other beliefs so much as I'd have to say that as long as they don't force it down my throat (like I felt it was being forced with the family I lived with) then I am fine with them. I try to be open to all beliefs and don't force any religion on anyone. I am more of an understanding and learning person then that of a person who is a forceful.

i do understand what you were trying to,say and i must add that what good is a god you worship and you are forced to worship him, worshipping a God should come from deep within us and not a forced thing for that is waht true worship is all about. For m i have an understanding of the God i worship and know that worshipping Him is a way of life not forced

I'm Roman Catholic.
since I was a kid I've always have had this feeling that religious texts are incomplete, that there must be something more. I felt like I could understand life more and fill the blanks if i study about religions outside my own.
The first religion I've held interest in was Buddhism, mainly because it's teaching somewhat parallel Christianity on the theme of pacifism and "turning the other cheek." The second one was Taoism, which I was exposed to in my study of Qigong and the Chinese internal martial arts.
I'm currently drawing an interest towards the Asian religions, especially Hinduism and Shintoism. I currently don't have the time to study it though.

I've always it to be a good thing to be educated about the other religions. That way, we won't make comments out of ignorance that can somehow spark more conflict than resolve anything.
I believe if we know something about a religion other than ourselves, we can learn to respect it.

I actually enjoy learning about other faith's. I know I am Christians and was taught to mingle among my own. So, I would not be tempted to sin. But I was alstaught to spread the word. How can I spread the word if I only mingle among my own kind?

It's important to know the person near You, it's important to understand that all persons are entitled to freedom of religion, to express freely their faith in their manners (unless of course you are a satanist).

Yes, each and everyone has the freedom to choose what they want. It's no problem to have friends of other religion as well, all we must do is Stick to ONE RELIGION. Just as the Bible said, No one can serve two master at a time.

I recently read a book by an Islamic woman and in the book she explained in detail the ways the Muslims think. It was a great eye opener. You'll never know how to deal with other people if you don't know their ways and customs. I think you're doing the right thing learning about other religions.

I think you're right. You can understand people more if you know about their culture and their religion. I have to admit, though, that I haven't done much reading in that regard. Even so, I don't shun someone just because his religion is different from mine.

As a Christian, you are to Love GOD with all Your Heart, all your MIND and All your Soul. The BIBLE is all we need for our FAITH. It is HIS WORD and if we believes it with all our heart we will never want to read about other people and their believes.
I tell you one thing, in your prayer today give this question to God and try reading the BIBLE after your prayer, see what answer you get. The BIBLE says "If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God..and it will be given to him." [James 1:5] Read also Galatians 1:8-9.
Read This http://www.gotquestions.org/Christianity-unique.html
We are not the JUDGE of the UNIVERSE, I can only tell you what the BIBLE says. So the answer for your question is "No". Why would I want to know about other religion when I have found the true way. I would rather stick to the ONE WAY and believe in ONE LORD. God Bless!

I'm also of no religion.
But I don't read much about other religions.
Only so much as I have to learn at school.
Because I'm not so interested in them. I read them only, when I go to some other country, and they have some religion. Then I read because I need to know how and why they act some way or why they do some things different as I.
I find it quite useful to know when you travel around and when you want to communicate with the people there.

Yes, I read another religious book, and I'm interesting to know what they belief. I'm catholic, but I attend also the other religious ceremony when my friend invite me. The one I don't want is the criticize do other religions about Jesus. Well we are different belief but I think we don't need to speak against other religion, this is the reason why people fighting, because they speak a bad about in their belief. so respect what people belief and they respect what you belief is.

I am a Muslim and I believe that we should go for comparative study of all religions. We muslims are required to believe in all Prophets and divine Books. There is no harm in studying all the religions as it has increased my belief in Islam as the most practical, realistic and modern religion basing on pure Monotheism.........

I am an atheist but I do like reading about religion, mainly because I find it both interesting and educational. Religions should be respected, everyone is free to choose what they believe in, but what I don't like is when people start talking to me about God all the time and kind of try to push it on me. They keep bringing up God in conversations when they know I don't believe in God.

I'm the same as you bro. I respect and understand other religion. I'm also a Christian. But I know lots of peoples and friends that discriminates other religion. I don't wanna mention. Some says it's a bad influence, some says that it's wrong, some says it's ridiculous, some says that only their faith deserves, some says that their evil, and I hate to listen more further. If only they open themselves and try to learn something. Religion doesn't matters to me when looking into a person.

i am like you i think that if you understand were other people are coming from it opens your mind up to alot of new things. alot of people dont know that there are other types of religions out there, thats why they act that way. it is better to have a overstanding of other peoples views you can agree or not but give people a chance. i guess every body will who is right in the end.
