What is the legal drinking age where you live?

I don't drink alcohol at all. In my state though, the legal drinking age is 21 years old. I believe in Texas the legal drinking age is 18, but feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. So what is the legal age to drink alcohol where you live? Do you drink at all? You don't have to share that, but I didn't figure anyone cared about sharing stuff like that. I don't drink, and I think some people here have been successful in being sober after dealing with alcoholism, and others drink without a problem...

I know it did back before i was 21, but i just thought it was the "times" but its stilll going on. I drink about 3 times a year at the max, and i do all i can to not get drunk, though sometimes i just decide heck with it and drink til im sick, but thats only happened about 4 times in the last 10 yrs..lol

The legal drinking age here in South Carolina is 21. I used to drink on occasion but now that I am married and I have 2 little ones I really don't drink any more. And if my husband has a few drinks then I especially won't drink so that someone can drive us home safely. I am a very paranoid parent since they try to take your kids away over anything these days, and I will not allow either of us to drive even if we've had only one drink. My children are my life and I have to keep them safe.

You're obviously a good parent. And you're right, they will take people's kids away these days for anything. I know abuse goes on, and some kids need to be protected, but I've never seen so many cases of children wrongly taken away from parents in this day and age.

The legal drinking age is 21 here in Ohio. I enjoy a drink now and then, but since any drinking might trigger a migraine, I'm pretty cautious. I grew up in a bar, actually living upstairs from the bar that my parents owned, and the customers were like my extended family. I used to get sad seeing how some of them would just sit and drink for hours while their family waited for them to come home. While it's fun sometime to visit a bar and hang out with friends for a while, I've seen too many people wasting their lives and ruining their relationships by spending too much time in the bar getting stinking drunk. Growing up the way I did, I'll never have a drinking problem. Problem drinkers are a problem for themselves as well as for everyone around them.

HI, AmbiePam. I live in Indiana and the legal age for drinking is 21. I only drink on special occasions. I consider myself to be a social drinker. I don't drink to get drunk.

Here, in the UAE, 21 is the legal drinking age - although I know many people who are my age that get drunk pretty often. -.- By the way, I think the legal drinking age in Texas is 21 as well. *Shrugs.*

The legal drinking age in Ohio is 21. It was once down to 18, but was put back up to 21. I think there was something about so many accidents by young people between the ages of 18-21, but this was years ago. I don't drink for health reasons, but would for social occasions, if I was able to. I never was much of a drinker and it doesn't bother me if people do as long as they know how to control it. There are too many who don't know when they need to stop.

Hi AmbiePam, I life in Canada and the legal drinking age is 19 and I think it is the same in all provinces, but I'm not sure about that. I'm surprised that Texas would have the legal age at 18 while in many states it is 21. It was 21 here at one time, but you also had to be 21 to vote. Blessings.

Someone on here told me it used to be 18 in Texas, but now it is 21. Does 19 sound odd to you? I guess I just think 16 to drive, 18 to vote, and 21 to drink. But some places you have to be older than 16 to drive, right?

Hi again AmbiePam, I think that it should be 18 for all three. If one is old enough to join the armed forces and die for his country, surly he/she is an adult in every sense of the word. Blessings.

Here in the state of Gujarat where I live in India, drinking is prohibited for any aged person. However, if you wish to drink, then there are means to get the permit for it and you can get the permission by doing some formalities. But still in this case, people having permission too are not allowed to drink in the public place, there some normal rules which apply to all in some other states.

in my state also 21 is the age were drinking is made legal. But I don't drink and I don't intend to do so because I have seen many people having a lot of problems because they are addicted to drinking.

That is a good attitude. It doesn't make people bad for drinking, but people really do benefit for not drinking at all.

hi, Well the drinking age is 21 here but I feel that drinking age should be atleast abouve 18 everywhere. There is a close connection between drinking and driving as both when mixed can be dangerous. So as they dont give licence to drive untill 18 ,same should be for the drinking part. what do others say?

The legal drinking age in Washington state at this time is 21 there have been things suggested to lower it to 18 this past year but don't know if they will or not. My husband and I have a drink on occasion to relax in the evening or for our anniversary or something. We don't very often.

The legal drinking age here in West Virginia is 21. I don't drink myself so the drinking age is of no importance to me whatsoever. I'm 22 so legally I can drink but it doesn't bother me at all really. I'm not interested in being an idiot and concerned with drinking all the time.

I'm in the UK and the legal drinking age is 18 (I think, although I'm sure its gona be changed at some point to 18). I like a drink and having a drink but my hubby doesn't drink as he becomes violent and if out is likely to start a fight so its best he doesn't drink. Hes very sensible really, I just drink and have a laugh!!!

I know that throughout Canada it varies between 18 and 19. I'm sure exactly in which province it's 18 and which it's 19, but I do know that it varies between the two.

The age in Ontario Canada is 18. It used to be 21 but for some reason many years ago they dropped it, I guess some politician needed some extra votes. The unfortunate side effect is that more drinking goes on at college and university level where the incidence of abuse has gone up. Johnny is finally away from home and gets plastered neglecting his school work.

If it would do any good in regards to underage drinking I'd be for it! It's just too bad sometimes kids find a way.
