I have heard that you can share the connection of the internet and i have only a single modem which is my mobile phone and i have both the laptop and desktop compters, the thing is that i need to have the connection on both computers at the same time through the very same mobile modem. I am not sure if this is possible, but i've heard of internet sharing connection and again i'm not sure if wether that works on LAN connection or maybe is pssible on WAAN The thing is that i need to connect to the net using only one modem at the same time on both the laptop and desktop computers, and with the mobile modem connected on either the laptop or desktop I am on XP professional. Is this possible?

Well it's very much possible. First you need a way to connect your laptop with your desktop or vise versa. It can be done by simply connecting them through a patch cord. Then download a software called FREEPROXY from hardcraftedsoftware.org . It's a free software and it has limitation of sahring internet for 10 computers on lan in free version. Now install freeproxy on the machine where you connect your mobile phone modem. Just go through it's help file and configure it. Now on another pc, go to tools option of internet explore and in connectin tab, use proxy address that before you have defined on the modem pc. That's should work perfectly. Elese, after connecting both computers, just enable the internet connection sharing on which you have connected your modem. It also works however the first method gives you some adminstrative control for the second pc. Hope it works..

first off how is your mobile phone connected to your computer, two you will need a way to connect the two computer together, if your mobile phone is connected via a usb port, then just get a cat5 crossover network cable and connect the two computers via the network port on them turn on internet connection sharing and your off, you can use both computers at the same time

Thats exactly what i want, to use both computers at the same time, but what about the connection speed if i use both computer? like if i'm browsing on my desktop and someone else is browsing on the laptop? Lets say i'm dowloading something on the desktop and again i'm downloading something on the laptop, what will be the trasfer rate? will it be shared between the two
