i think you should call the shop where you buy the camera.ask them some information about it!
and how long you buy it?!if not long before, you should change it for a new one~
i think when one thing after repairing will always go wrong soon! ^ ^...
what will you do ,it all depends on yourself~

Did you accidentally switch your light condition to manual. There are ways to change the levels in your camera to compensate the light that the camera takes in. There are shade, daylight, indoor, tungstun etc...try to reset the camera setting to default else you can send it in for servicing...

I am no expert, but I have been around cameras for a long time. In case you haven't already done so, check if the purple pixels problem is only with the LCD or with the photos as well. Take few photos and transfer them on your computer to see. If the photos are ok, then the problem is with the LCD only. Those purple pixels might be stuck pixels. I do not think it is expensive to fix this. I think there might even be a way for you to fix this by yourself.
In case the photos turn out purple, I am afraid I cannot help with this. It is quite unusual and I have never seen anything like this. Maybe it could have happened in case something was spilled over the camera.
You should also check the warranty regardless if the camera was from Japan. The only thing that is going to cost you will be the shipping costs.

I really can't guess as to what would cause your camera to have purple images. I would suggest however finding a camera shop that does FREE examinations/quotes on fixing the camera. THEN I'd check to see if your warranty is still in effect and if so, what is covered by it. Though this camera sells for $350 app. new, if it is going to cost a bundle (I wouldn't pay more than 1/3 to 1/2 the value on a camera of this price) to fix it, you may be better off trading it in on a newer model (sometimes shops want older cameras for parts)or simply tossing it and getting another camera. Check out a few camera shops and ask about free quotes and go from there.
