It really upset me last year when major stores did away with layaway, and started offering credit cards. Of course they need to make more money off of people. It frustrated me, because my family depends on layaway in order to provide a good christmas for our children. So when I found out that the only deparment store in my area with layaway was K*mart, I got my butt in the car and put one in. Do you think that stores should have kept layaway, or it's a good idea for them to get rid of it? I personally think layaway is a great idea, because it helps those who can't out right afford presents and items for their christmas holiday.

I think getting rid of Layaway was the worst thing the stores could have done, although I do know the Wal Mart in our area got rid of it cause people were not picking up their stuff. I feel that now the only people who can truly give their kids a GREAT christmas are the rich, because it is hard to come up with the money at one time, layaway let you pay over a few months and that was great. I personally do not like KMart and I think it is sad they are the only ones with layaway. I bought most of my gifts for my son during a 50% off already clearance price sale from walmart, and the rest is stocking stuffers which I do at the dollar store, I guess the rest of my family is getting cheap stuff this year, good thing Christmas is about family and not gifts.

I never shopped at k*mart until recently. Since i found out they have layaway I figured, hey might as well. I plan on doing the rest of my shopping on black friday. It is sad that stores got rid of layaway when a lot of people counted on it. Your right though, good thing christmas is about family and not gifts.
