Waiting at the Polls?

After waiting in line for an hour, I was informed my precincts boarders were changed and a nice little old lady sent me across town to a different location. There I waited for another half hour to be told she had sent me to the wrong place... so off again to wait for another 20 minutes in a different line. How long did you wait at the polls today? How long would you wait?

Oh my, I bet that was annoying. I went at 9am because I figured most people would be there exactly at 7am so they could get to work or their college classes without having to worry about voting once they got off work or out of school. So I only had three people in line in front of me.

Oh that wasn't early. I get up every morning between 4:30am and 5am. I would have loved to have been able to go then, lol.

That sounds painless. Im glad that you exercised your right to vote, even if it meant getting up a little early!

What a horrible experience! You would think that the local paper would have informed voters of the changes so folks wouldn't have to run around unnecessarily like that. I'm glad you hung in and voted no matter who you voted for. I live in a small, rural county in Florida so there was no waiting when my husband and I voted today. As for how long I would wait to cast my vote? When I lived in a more populated area in Maryland I used to have to wait for about an hour...usually in the evening, sometimes in bad weather. I believe that voting is an important right so I would probably stand in a line for as long as it took in order to exercise it.

Hey glords! I was very lucky where I went to vote! I live in Yonkers, NY and I didn't have to wait at all! There was no one there and I just walked in to the school where the voting machines were around 12:30PM and walked up to the tables to find out where my name was and which machine I could use. It took less than 2 minutes. I walked into the voting booth, pulled the levers and walked out to meet my girlfriend who had also just voted and we walked back through our development where we live and proceeded on to go out for lunch! We picked a great time to go! We were so happy to get in and get out and get it over with! Completely painless! But, in other areas of NY people were not quite so lucky! We heard the lines were unbelievable. But that was to be expected. It all depended on where you lived. In the city itself the lines were really long. The city that I live in is one of the largest cities in NY but it is about 45 minutes outside of Manhattan. Now it is 10:00pm and the polls have been closed for about an hour so in about another 2 hours we should start hearing some outcomes and I am just going to wait until then to start watching the numbers rolling in. My boyfriend is watching now so he will keep me updated while I mylot for a bit longer!

Voting was simple for me. In our county we went through a lot to inform people where to vote. The good thing about living in a small town is there is only one place to vote!
