I want to be the first one to actually take the time to post on this site. I want to express how proud I am to be an African American. Don't get me wrong, I have always bee proud to be an African American BUT tonight has given me much hope.
As a young American, I never took the time to vote. I figured that there was no reason for me to take the time to vote.why? why should I take the time to vote when the government has never worked for me? Well, something woke me up this morning. Even though my heart was a little skeptical, it still was filled with hope. The kind of hope that made me want to go to the polls. I made my way to the polls and casted my vote. While casting my vote, I prayed for Barack Obama and decided to put the decision in GOD's hands. But to be honest with all of my readers, I KNEW Barack Obama was going to win. I felt it, I wasn't scared and I Wasn't doubtful. I am so proud of the way we came together as a "people."When I say a people, I mean whites, blacks and all other cultures who felt in their own hearts that change was needed. I want to say Thank you to all that took the time to vote, who had faith in themselves as well as their fellow man. The thought of the history that was just made makes my heart smile. I was a part of a moment that will forever be apart of my soul. I Will oneday be able to tell my grandchildren that I Was apart of a moment that changed history forever.
This moment in time has changed my perception of many things but the one thing I am now for sure of is that I can do anything that I put my mind to and so can my children and my children's children. America has blossomed before my eyes and I am elated to be an American.
God Bless everyone and God bless America.
