I am 5'1" tall and weigh 132 lbs. Back in April 2006 I weigheded 269 lbs just before I had the Gastric Mini Bypass Surgery by Dr. Osvoldo Anez in Fairfax, Virginia. I know that I took a risk with my life when I had this surgery but I felt like I was failure and would die an early death if I continued on the road I was on. I was a miserable person and felt like crap all the time. I had sleep apnea, the early beginnings of high blood pressure, aches and pains and gastric reflux and felt pre-diabetic. Now I no longer have any of these signs and symptoms or problems. I have acomplished everything on my list of things I wanted to do when I lost weight. (one of them was to have my husband lift me up and carry me we never got to do this when we married because I was too heavy then too). You can find me on www.obesityhelp.com under my e-mail search of anjelskisses@yahoo.com Check out my pics. I haven't updated my site lately so I am actually thinner than my site says. I could not ever tell someone else to do this because it is a very personal decision and risky but If I had to this over again I would do it in a heart beat!

I had excellent health coverage at the time through United Health Care. They paid for 100% of the surgery after my co-pays. My hospital co-pay was $200-300. The surgeon was $10 co-pay per office visit before surgery and a processing fee of $200 to get it started. I also paid for a nutritionist of $500 one time charge that covered all my visits including the hospital visits. Most insurance co. will not pay for a nutritionist for this. I also paid my co-pays of $10 per office visit to the specialist who saw me to clear me for surgery. All of my diagnostic exams were 100% covered. I think if I had to pay out of pocket the total cost would have bee about $35,000 or 40,000. So as you can see the cost was minimal. I think my total out of pocket was $700 or so. I am much happier now! I can play with my kids and do lots of things I never could while fat! =-)
