a 37-year-old mom who let her 13-year-old son drive her to the store, according to police.Cops say they pulled the boy over because he swerved into a curb and then drove into oncoming traffic.Mom told police she wasn't behind the wheel because she was "messed up on Xanax". If I needed to get to the store that bad I would have taken a cab. What about you?

That is probably every 13 yr olds dream...being able to drive with their parents permission. Good thing nothing worse happened. I bet not only did the mom get in alot of trouble for this, but if this happened in Ny, that 13 yr old wouldn't be able to get his liscense until he was 18 instead of 16. Crazy people are all over this world. Then they have kids and mess them up too!

Cab, bus, walk, call a friend.... I can think of plenty of better ways to get to the store than to have a 13 year old drive there. She must have been really "messed up on Xanax" to think that was a good idea.

I agree. Cab idea. Kid driving was an obvious bad idea. Really. What was she thinking?

I would have understood if it were an emergency... but come on... the store?? What was going on at the store? One day only sale or something?? I've heard of people letting their 16 year old teen drive them or even as you stated 13 because of a medical emergency but for the store... just is NOT sinking in. Seriously bad mommy award. Could have gotten herself and her son killed.

If there were an emergency then they should have called 911, Seriously how could she function enough even if they were a big sale going on. I have heard that it basically numbs your brain especially if you take with other stuff or drink with it. Nothing could be more important then her child's life. I am thinking it was more like a grocery store maybe she had the munchies..Still it is not any reason to endanger her child's life, her life and others on the road and sidewalks.
