Some countries are already gearing up to challenge the new president

Looks like some countries think our new leader will be weak and avoid wars. Russia announced they'll station missiles at the Polish border. We recently installed a missile defense system in Poland. Afghanistan is calling for American troops to leave, so is Iraq. How Obama reacts to this will determine how many more countries will make a move and thumb their nose at us.

In my honest opinion and after listening to President elect Obama he will sit and speak and try to work things out diplomatically with Iraq and he will slowly take troops out, He will sit with Russia and do what needs to be done. He will tell Afghanistan that if they do not wish to help with the demise of Al Queda then the troops shall continue to be there until it is resolved. You heard him say if Pakistan doesn't want to help we will enter and kill Bin laden. I have the fullest confidence that Obama will do what is best for this country. It will just be his first reaction will not be to go to war but to try and bring peace and stability together with words.
Of course challenges will come for any new president, it is like a child challenging that new caregiver to see what they can and can not get away with.

Well my friend how much has he been challenged in order for people to judge him on this, Ummm never lol So he shall show the American people of little faith that America has chosen the right man for the Highest position held in the United States of America. Although many Americans seem to be skeptical he who has faith shall overcome all obstacles. Sometimes you have to put in politics what you use in your daily family life. Hence if you think negatively negative things happen, when you think positively you make change!

Lol, we shall see, won't we? The international arena is relentless and unforgiving. I'll pass judgement when I see how he reacts. I'm only stating that he is perceived internationally as weaker. Time to proof that he isn't. We'll just have to wait and see what happens.

Well phrased. I do hope things will work out and America will still be viewed as the strong country it has always been. He, however, is viewed as weaker than his predecessors in terms of being a tough international politician.

I agree. His reaction will show where he stands in terms of international politics. It'll also show whether he'll be strong or let the world think they can run all over us;)

Yes, they sure moved fast. And he has to react swiftly, strongly, and well.

If obama wants to be seen as a president, then he must first prove he CAN be the president. He has made alot of accusations about what his plans are for the futre, and many of them being very very unlikely. I can just imagine a foreign country telling him, you talk the talk but can you walk the walk? I believe the countries are doing the right thing, it really and truly happens with every president. Power is given by who has power, and it all depends on this. Happy Mylotting.

True, every new president is challenged. However, some countries operate under the assumption that Obama wants to recall all troops and avoid wars in favor of seeking a diplomatic solution. After all, he said he wants the troops home ASAP and talk to our enemies without precondition. Many seem to view that as a sign of weakness. It'll be interesting to see what he does and what their further reaction is. It will also determine what kind of president he is and how America will be treated for the next four years.

Personally, the troops should be romoved just on the basis, the united states has never won a war unless we fought on our own land( besides wwII where we used something huge) if Obama wants to remove the troops but show true power he would do something such as that.
