I'm gay, but then again I don't believe in the institution of marriage itself. But I do not see why one group should be discriminated agianst like this. It is totally unconstitutional.

yeah i agree.. its not about like if it applies to you (some people just dont care because they are straight etc which i am so sad/sick of hearing) but the fact that everyone should have the right to do it if they want

Well, you can be happy about two things. Number one, San Francisco is already planning appealing the decision to the California Supreme Court to try to get it overturned. So you can wait and see how that turns out. Number two, it will not likely have any effect on marriages that already occurred, because laws are almost never retroactive. But, it seems like no matter what, the people have spoken about what they want. What can you really do about it?

how many times are they going to vote on it already though? i mean if it passes it passes and should be left alone.. same with abortion.. obviously if i wasnt happy with what had passed i would want a re-vote but i think that at most things should be re-voted on like once.. or they should spread some years between them or something.. this thing has flip flopped back and forth the past couple of years.. its exhausting!!

Personally I don't get affected by this bill cause I'm straight, but I know how the gay community felt about this issue. It's like giving away a wonderful gift then taking it back after wards. It's unfair to the gay and lesbian community

he's right.. its just another way the government is controlling everyone.. of course the gay ban seems small since it doesnt seem to affect many but no one should have the right to tell you who to love and how to love

I was hoping it'd pass as well. My DH and I live in San Jose and we both voted FOR that prop, but it didn't work out.
I don't know why people are so upset and fearful of gay marraiges. Gays and lesbians are just as much in love with their partners as straight people are with theirs, but yet gays and lesbians are the ones suffering. If one of them gets sick, it's the family of the sick party that has control, not the partner. It doesn't matter if a couple has been together for 20 years, the family has control, not the partner.
Maybe some day, we'll wake up and make it legal.
