What now for Palin?

United States

We all know that McCain will go back to congress and that this was his one shot at the big show. HE will remain in congress til he retires. THen lead a quiet private life. But what about Palin? She will for now go back to Alaska and resume her job there. But what do you think the future will hold for her? Do you think she will go after a seat in congress next? Could get another shot at the VP or President spots? Will she use this time in the spot light to further her career? What do you think?

Has Palin ever actually lost anything? From what I recall of her bio, she was always the top dog, winning everything she set her sights on. This loss has got to be hard on her so whether she's willing to go out on a limb at any point in the future and risk another knock down is hard to say. I don't see her ever being seriously considered as a presidential nominee by the Republican party unless she does something outstanding politically...which I don't see happening.

I just heard for the second time where Palin said she didn't think McCAIN'S LOSS could be attributed to her. It sounds like she's already totally distanced herself from him when if it hadn't been for him she'd have never been heard of by most of the country. Annie

In my case it had to do with her. I was for McCain and gave Palin a chance but I couldn't risk having her second in line behind a 73 year old man. I could go on...but I won't.

She is saying it was the economy. WHich is true. It was the number one issues. SO it do think she is right it had more to do with the ecomony and Bush than her.

I don't think Palin will do anything else really. This was her 15 minutes. Only the self proclaimed "Maverick" John McCain would have ever picked her for that position. And he only did it for attention. I'm sure he knew he wasn't going to win the presidency. Come on first black president on the democrat party? Sheesh. If it a black man on the republican side then yeah you've got a chance, cause the dems will just say "He's working for the white man." The shoe on the other foot: no. Palin stood up to the big oil companies in Alaska blah blah blah. Yeah sure, that's why oil runs Alaska. Lol what did she do? Stand up, and hand them land deeds? sheesh. She'll finish out her term as governor, probably try to do something else, but voters just won't be interested, and she'll end up becoming the member of some small town school board.

Alaska loves her. I see her running for Congress in her state and winning. From their who knows. But I do not think we have seen the last of her. The conservative base loves her. She will be a major player in the Republican party for a least the next few years. What she does with that is up to her. Personally I would like to see her take Stevens seat. It looks like he might have actually gotten re-elected. Which means Congress will probly exspel him. She could take the seat until the next election. Which she would of course run in and probly get re-elected. Don't count her out so fast. I think she will be back.

I am not a liberal. Never have been. Voted Republican most my life (voted constitutionalist party a few times). So I think I can talk about who I think they should run next or who may become major players in the party. McCain actually threw me because I thought he was a RINO. Liberals are going to talk about it too. there is going to be plenty of speculation on both sides about the next election for the next four years. But we do need to think about hte congressional election comming up in two years.

I think in four years Sarah Palin will be a front runner for the Republican nomination. This election should help her win in 2012 because she will have experience with a national election. She now has national exposure which her opponents in the party probably will not.

Biden will probably be like Cheney if Obama makes it 8 years in office.

Which will mean Hillary will try to run again.

Won't Biden be too old if Obama gets 8 years. I wonder who they will run? It would not surprise me if she throws her name in the hat in 2012.

She herself has said she has no idea what she is going to do in future right now. I am just speculating. She may decided to not run for a national election again. But she may decide to. I am just looking for peoples opinions on it.

I heard speculation that she could be putting up a seat warmer for Ted Stevens place if she can get it but she has to clear her name from the Ethics dilemma.

She was cleared of ALL the ethics claims on Monday. Too close to the election to do any good. The damage was already done.

She'll probably go for president either next election or the one after. Wouldn't she be an awesome president? [/sarcasm] *Imagines Palin standing at the podium, winking at her audience while giving an important presidential speech.* *Is very glad Obama won.*

They're talking about this very thing on MSNBC right now, discussing if she will be the new "leader" of the Republican Party. Apparently a WSJ poll today of Republicans shows that most of those responding think either Mitt Romney or Mike Huckabee should be the new face of the party with Palin coming in a distant third. (Sorry, I forget the exact percentages right now!) I do think she's go after a national office sometime fairly soon and her own state probably will elect her. There had been some random chatter that she could somehow appoint herself in Senator Ted Stevens' place either if he were to resign or if the Senate votes to expel him, assuming he holds onto his lead and is reelected. I think if she were to announce a bid for the Presidency in the future right now she'd get a lot of laughs, but who knows what the future may bring. One thing most Americans seem to agree on right now is that she's not qualified now, but that doesn't mean she can't learn, I suppose. Annie

I think she will go home for a while. She is very popular in Alaska so her chances at Congress are very good. In 8 years who knows who will be on top of the party. People retire, people get into scandels, new people come in. We will have to wait and see what happens. But I really do think we will see Palin again. Personally it will shock the heck out of me if Stevens get re-elected. I do not think people were so much voting for him as against the other guy. But hte effect is the same if he gets to keep his seat. I hope if he gets re-elected that congress expels him. He is not someone we need in washington.

I think Sarah will learn and accomplish a lot in whatever she does in politics over the next four years. She will hopefully run as president, and she will get my vote. Go Sarah!!!

Now that what her opposers consider her dirty laundry is out in the open, she's free to pursue whatever she wants. I believe we'll be hearing more from Sarah and I can't wait. People will be thinking about those oil fields in Anwar when they have to take a loan out to fill up their cars. This is going to come back and bite the anti-Palin crowd on the behind.

I agree. We will be seeing a lot more of Palin in teh years to come. Also I did like her stance on Energy independence. that is a very smart move for America. Truth be told we should have become energy independent about 10 years ago. Our government was warned, no one listened. Now we pay the price.

I am hoping that whatever she decides to do that she keeps it on a state level. According to her interviews I think it could take her a few years just to get caught up to being able to compete on a national level. It seems that a lot of people liked her because of her personality, which in my opinion was about all she had to offer the party. Just my opinion.

She does not strike me as a quiter. She will go back to the state level for a little while. But then she will come back. And I think we will see a different Palin. One that this that perpared for the natinal glare.

She is ambitious and certainly benefitted from all the publicity about being appointed as a potential vice president. She could almost slot into any government position she wanted, except president or vice president, I don't think she is really qualified to do that job, but that is my opinion.

I doubt if she'll run for congress. She's said in past interviews that if she and McCain didn't win, that she'd go back to her family and her life as governor in Alaska. I wouldn't mind seeing her run for President in 2012, but she has said that at this time, she has no desire to do so. I think she'd make a fantastic president. She'd make a better one than Hillary Clinton.
