Do people like when you tell them the truth

Do you think people tend to get mad when you tell them the truth. I have a friend and every we get in to discussion it always turns into a heated argument. He always says tell me the truth and when i do he blows up on me, and not a regular blow up. he starts throwing things and yelling at me. so i find my self telling him alot of lies to keep the peace. He is always wrong, and im always right im not trying to be mean but this is a fact. I still want to be his friend as long as we dont get into a discussion, our friendship is great.

What happens to me is I am controversial, and what that means is I don't tell people what they want to hear, and I tell them the truth. Most often than not people stay away from me because I am emotional and very passionate and they just don't get into a discussion.

many people say that it hurts to know the truth. but the fact that it is the truth, one must accept it.

Well my charater and attitude in life with my friends I don't care if they will get hurt I just wanna open up their mind and don't wanna see them wrong. Anyway what are friends for. Then trying just to please them all the time. As long that I am a friend I will protect them by saying the truth. Have a nice day!

Hi galaxy. Welcome to mylot fellow and I hope that you have a happy stay here with us. Answering your question: most of them didn't. Most of the persons don't want to hear the truth. They want that you only agree with them. And it is impossible when they are wrong. I understand you because I know a couple of persons that are the same way that your friend. I think this kind of person can't be a real friend. What will be when you really need to disagree with him? he will hate you. Not for me. I don't want to be around this kind of people. They are good to have fun only but not to call them friends. I think that only the friends can tell us the truth because they love us. But most of the people don't think so.

Some people want you to be honest but yet they can't handle it. No matter what you do you lose. I've been through this recently and some people just love the drama. There are people that just want to be right not matter what. Sometimes it's a lose lose situation.

Everyone who knows me even a little bit knows I will tell you the truth whether you wanted to hear it or not! 
So yes I believe you should tell the truth but maybe this person should not be considered a friend because he surely doesn't sound like one to me. I would certainly distance myself from someone this violent and just down right unreasonable!!
