Why do sports stars get paid such mad amounts of money?

They say Lewis Hamilton will soon be earnign $100 million a year... sorry but that is $2,000,000 a week for crying out loud... for driving a car and sleeping with the girl from The Pussycat Dolls. Eh?
And then there is David Beckham... he is worth $250,000,000... that is a quarter of a billion dollars... he kicks a ball. Seriously that is all he does. I could kick a ball when I was 2 years old but I grew out of it and got a job.
Why are teachers, nurses and aid workers paid so little yet someone who throws a ball around for the Denver Bronco's or who hits a white ball with a stick on the grass is is named after an animal gets millions and millions of dollars.
What is wrong with us?

We pay more money to see them play sports than we do to go to the doctor. Thats how they make all the money, without us they would not make that kind of money so yep its our fault.

I agree 110% with firefly, the reason they get paid so much is because of the revanue they recieve from all of us watching, talking, and going to the sporting events. Imagine if we all just sit around talking about how great a job your son's third grade teacher was doing!
