Guy Fawkes

Tonight is Guy Fawkes. In some countries fire works have been outlawed. In the UK we are still allowed to have fireworks.
Tonight we arranged for a few of my son's school friends to come around for the fireworks. We had 9 kids here for an hour or 2 while they watched the fireworks. It was great fun, the kids were so excited, they were all running around in the dark, chasing each other and shouting and screaming - good thing we live away from other houses.
After the fireworks we had some sparkers for the kids and those were the highlight of the evening.
We sent 9 happy and tired kids home to bed when the fireworks were finished.
What did you do to celebrate Guy Fawkes? Do you have fireworks in your country? Do your kids love the fireworks, or hate the noise? Tell me what you did for Guy Fawkes.
Thanks

I have never really been a big fan of fireworks, not only do I think that they are dangerous I just begrudge paying all that money for them! It is only recently that I can really say that now I could afford to buy them. My children are not really that keen on them either which is fine by me, they had a disco at school a couple of days afer bonfire night and after there was a firework display they went to the disco and then watched a few of the fireworks but they did not want to stay for the whole thing.

Hi
We did nothing yesterday as we plan to go to a firework display on Saturday. I am really looking forward to it as it will be my 2 year old first time at a display Spent most of the night while the fireworks were going off comforting my dog as he was getting himself in quite a state.
This is the first year that it has really affected him he is usually not bothered by them.

Bonfires and fireworks sounds like a lot of good fun to me! I don't give a care about the reasons for it, one is as good a reason as any other!! I should think your boy would have forgotten all about his 'Halloween disappointment' after that!

I live in Northern Ireland, but we celebrate Halloween. (yeah strange). My husband is from London but he does not celebrate Guy fawkes here. Last Friday we had loads of fireworks for Halloween too. It is lovely watching them, but the run up to it here can be deafening by the kids letting fireworks off every night for weeks.
You sound as if you all have had a great evening. Do you have still burn the guy? Bonefires have dwindled away now here around Holiday times, as they used to put tyres on them, so they have to be monitored now.
Well have a good evening (the rest of it) I am sure you are tired with nine children running around earlier.
