Do You Prefer Watching Movies At Home or The Theater?

I know many people Love to go watch movies at the Theater, and sometimes they even use this as an excuse for Dating, or just a night together with Family, etc. But with the prices on most movies over $10 when they first come out most places, I really wonder how many of us will go out and watch a movie in a Theater or do you wait until it comes out in Video and Rent it, or buy it. But then sometimes you could be missing a lot of special effects they show in the movies that your TV at home will never display as well. Personally, I am not one for going to the Theater and spending my hard earned $$ there. I have never been one to go to the theater either. For me, it is a lot cheaper to wait until they come to DVD, and either rent them, or buy them. And since a lot of places here now rent movies for $1 you can see 10 movies for the price of one admission ticket in a theater, so that is a lot of savings as well. And if it turns out to be a movie I just have to have, we will either go buy it somewhere, or wait until somewhere has the movie previously viewed, and buy it then as well. Then you can watch the movie over and over again not having to worry about extra expenses as well. Right now I am sure there are some Good movies we really want to see, but I will wait until they are on DVD and save me some $$ for other things out there as well. ~~TINA~~

Too expensive for the family budget. We use Netflix. It is nice to have the movies delivered. To be on the nice comfy couch suits me just fine. And it saves a bunch of money. Theatre visits are now for special ocasions.

We are not fond of Netflix. That is why we rent from the $1 machines, and such now if we really need to see something, and then wait to buy it when it is previously viewed as well.

I rarely go to the theatre. I'll go maybe if it is a family members birthday or something like that. Just as a special treat. It is much cheaper to wait until the movie comes out and just buy it. Not to mention it is much more comfortable to watch a movie all sprawled out on my comfy couch with my bowl of popcorn!

We don't go to the movie theater. The last time we went was when we were dating so that's been over 10 yrs ago. I fell asleep halfway thru the movie! Total waste of money. It's cheaper anymore to just wait for the DVD and rent it, then if it's a keeper buy it. We have surround sound hooked up to our DVD player so we get great sound and great picture on the tv. We can eat and drink anything we want and pause it if we have take potty break or get a phone call. No worries about a tall guy in a hat sitting in front of you, some idiot kicking the back of your chair, kids throwing popcorn, sticky wet disgusting floors and the list goes on. No thanks! I want my comfy couch, comfy jammies, comfy food and snuggling with my comfy hubby.

I would prefer to watch movies at the theater; but prices are just to high. By the time you pay for admission, buy popcorn and soda for the kids you have spent a mint. So we enjoy watching movies on the internet. Movie streaming is very big right now, and you can watch new releases. All you need is a high speed connection. It does save me money; and the family doesn't have to sacrifice their entertainment.

I like it at home, once again, it is cheaper, meaning I can save some money at this point. I will still go out to movies every once in a while. The big screen experience is great, but I like my money!

I personally love watching movies at home. I cannot sit through a whole movie in a theater. They are usually either way to cold or too hot. Also way pay a ton of money to see a money when you can easily wait two or three month for the DVD to come out and buy it for the same amount to go out and see. Plus you can make your own yummy snacks.

I much prefer to watch a movie at home in the comfort of my favorit chair these days. Yes, it is very expensive to take the family to the theaters today. If you take your family to the theater they think they have to have popcorn candy and drinks and that really adds up because that is were the theater really makes their profit. I haven't tried those $$ vending machines that are in the grocery stores yet. When watching a movie at home if you happen to miss something you can go back to catch it. At the theater people around you like to whisper. Then you have them trampling on your feet as they leave the row to vivt the confection counters in the lobby. Besides if it's a good drama you can watch it again to get the full effect of the movie. So for me viewing movies at home is much better than at the theater.

I prefer watching movies in Theaters..... I don't see movies in the computer or in home, even in the wide screen or home theaters...... coz, we don't get the cinematic effect, when we watch in the HOME THEATERS.....

I prefer movies at home, most of the time. The cost of the tickets are rediculous for 1st-release movies. It's $12in my area, or $36 for my family of 3. For that amount of money, we watch at home and get pizza to go with it. Once in a while a movie comes out that really looks better on a big screen. In those instances, we wait for it to go to the 2nd release theaters, where tickets are usually $2, or $1 on Tuesdays.

if i had the budget then i would love to watch it in the theater, but if my budget is short, i'd rather wait for the dvd copy to come out and then buy it to watch it at home. i used to watch movies a lot. i still love to be able to do so but am just too busy.

same here. i just cant stand the idea of spending that much money for 1 movie that odds are, i wont like..or will turn out nowhere near as good as the commercials lol! and that happens often enough with the movies i rent! we use the Netflix service. i get unlimited rentals a month 3 out at a time..for $20. say i only get to watch 3 movies each week..turn around time is faster than that, but just for arguements sake lol... so thats 12 movies a month divided by $20..which works out to only $1.67 EACH! with no late fees. and thats even New Releases! if i went to like Hollywood video and rented them there..at $4. Per movie (back in like 4 days i think) that would cost me $48 a month for those same 12 movies! talk about a money saver lol! besides, i like being able to pause the movie when i need to use the bathroom etc etc. or when someone starts talking lol!

Costs aside, I'd definitely prefer to watch movies at the theater. I don't have a huge projection screen and home theater system at home, so I can never get the same kind of effects I get at the theaters. The difference in the movie experience is very stark if the shows are those that are rich in effects and graphics. In recent months, I was sponsored some tickets and watched 10,000 B.C. and Indiana Jones at the theaters, and I really enjoyed the large screen and sound effects. I will never be the same watching these movies at home. For those movies without such effects, I'll probably watch the DVD at home because that will probably be cheaper. Ticket prices at the theaters are not cheap these days.

I love the theater- but sometimes home is better because you can rewind and watch your favorite parts over.

That depends on the movie, if it looks really good, then i will usually go see it in the theater, but if it doesnt look that good, or i just dont feel like going out and spending the $$, then i will download it, or wait for it to come out on dvd.

I know what you mean! the price of movies are just getting higher and higher...I paid $16 last time I went for a normal adult ticket. However, there is an experience to going to the movies. The experience, big screen, surround sound...and i guess as the price of the ticket gets higher so does the quality of the cinemas. Some of the cinemas are now styled in a fashion that competes with 5 star hotels. Going to the cinemas~ not an everday event, but definately an experience to be enjoyed.
