I am not from US, but I have never watched any election event like how I have watched the recent US election. I made sure that I watch Obama and McCain's statement on social, economical and political issues and how they see those things.
Now that the election's over, Obama has won, are you satisfied with the result? I believe that Obama has a potential to be a great president. His ideas are appealing to me. What's your view on this?

I think a lot of us outside the US took particular interest in these elections
when we saw the possibility of a black man winning the race to the White House,
and of course we all have different reasons for our interest. I am sure that
black people like myself welcomed the opportunity to cheer for one of our own,
but we were not the only ones rooting for Barack Obama, and the breakdown of
the voters in the States reinforced that opinion.
The really interesting thing now is watching the anti-Obama people crawling
out from the rocks they were hiding under. As Colin Powell stated so clearly
in his interview on CNN, he decided to endorse Obama the man for his policies
and his outlook, rather than because his skin is black. In other words, here
is a man with brilliant qualifications for the job as President of the United
States of America, a job which calls for somebody who can build concensus,
somebody who can lead a team, somebody who people can trust to do the best for
country and people.
Nobody says it will be an easy job, and it's just as well that they did not
elect a dictator to rule on his own. Show me somebody who was not moved by
his speech in Chigago, and I will show you somebody without a soul. These are
times when we all need a lot of hope, and the Obama family will need our hopes
and prayers to keep them strong in the months and years ahead. Most moving thing
about the celebrations? so many people, black and white, laughing, crying and
cheering for the man of the moment and his loving family.

I voted for Obama so obviously, I think he has the ability to be a great president. However, I do not think he is going to govern the way many people hope or fear. I think that he will govern from the middle and bring America closer to the center. I don't expect he will prove to be the left wing radical many are anticipating and/or fearing. I also think that there will be many around the wworld who will not be too happy with some of his policies. I hope you are not one of them. We'll have to take a look at things in a year or two.

This is because you, like many in this world and apparently in our own country, do not understand our system of government. Obama would be a great leader for Europe or Canada. His nationalist tendencies however are at direct odds with the principals of our nation and constitution.

My view is that his ideas/policies should have OUR country and OUR people as the first priority regardless of whether those ideas/policies are popular with the people of other countries.
