I feel now with a new presidential change to arguably the most powerful nation on earth we have more hope for the future. Hopefully, UN goals such as the eradication of poverty and human rights for all will become more of a reality.
I will be interested to see what actions Obama takes not only on the economic stance and war front but with other institutions such as detetnion centres and civil unions.
For me, things that seems idealistic and far out of our reach because of the materialistic society we live in seems like it could be more than a dream now. That it could be possible for America to share thier incredible wealth with some of those less fortunate and set a standard for all other nations to follow!
I feel like America will not necessarily be the nation that always thinks in its own best interest and not the world population. e.g. the only country that has not ratified the kyoto protocol.
It is a lot to hope that all this change will come with a change in administration alone. But maybe that is what we all see in Obama. The reflection of the changing attitudes of America and hope for a brighter global future.
