You and your husband are a couple of pushers. Modern-day Bonnie and Clyde.
I'm like you too, CJay. I push even when there's a big sign in front of me that says "Pull".

It's a push with my weight behind it. And there have been instances where the door had to be pulled and the signage not being very visible, I have tried pushing and walked into it. Once it was a Glass door and I can't describe the noise and the stars and the embarassment that followed. And of course the the egg on my forehead.

What if is SLIDES mimpi? What do we do then?? I am not quite sure what I would do generally to be honest but I think I am probably more of a door pusher myself. I do get a kick out of seeing people push when it says "PULL" and vice versa though! lol. Sad but true.....

Hi Mou
Well, its nice discussion
in mall or shops, i follow the instruction written on the door either "Push" Or "pull"
but at home and in General i mostly Push the door as its easy to go in flow. But there are some door which can br open out side so have to pull them.

good discussion!
i usually pushes the door when i about to enter and pulls it once i exit. given that there is no instruction posted on the door. once there is instruction i follows it.

that makes sense roselyn. opening on one side, closing at the other - darn sensible.

I'm a door pusher when there are no instructions. I find it easier to walk in pushing the door than trying to use more energy to pull it.
I've also been known to 'pull' at doors which need to be pushed and vice versa. I'm too busy trying to figure out which is 'push' and which is 'pull' to realize what I'm doing!

oops...I forgot to mention...I once tried to 'push' a door that wasn't even there!!!! The glass door was open and I didn't realize it.
I once saw a lady that walked through a glass door at school....and luckily she had only minor injuries. Funny thing? The glass door was tinted and she didn't 'see' it!!!

Could have been fatal...but at the point it was funny too because we couldn't understand how she didn't see a tinted door. If it was clear glass, I understand...but this was darkly tinted. I don't remember if she was wearing sunglasses (but she was coming out from in...so she wouldn't be wearing them even she did have them)

I do wants to push.... for me it's better and a convenient way , I just feel I don't have to make too much effort in pushing rather than pulling.

in this thing, i always used to determine before keeping my hands on the door.
because in my showroom, many peoples pull the door, which give a bad hit for the door at the top. this makes me much angry that these peoples dont even have time to read what had been wrote on the door.
so as i think this way, how will i leave others to think the same on me?
but if the door works on both kinds, generally i pull!

I know how you ustr have felt on those occasions. It's damaging!
And coming to pulling, you are the second person after me who do that.

My natural tendency is to push the door, if no instructions are available. If it does not work, then only I pull the door.

hahha... reading all those responses, i'm not ashamed on saying that i'm a pusher! Even though it's clearly state in the door to 'pull' it :)
when i go to a mall, most of its glass door doesnt have any how-to-open-instruction, so i push. Why, it's easier! Glass door are usually heavy :)
And, it usually open both ways. I mean, even if it said 'pull', it will still be open when we push it.
But recently i started to make a habit of reading the instruction. Especially when i'm on the minimarts. Their doors do have the instruction and it's big!
But of course, that's if i'm not too lazy to pull the glass door lol.
Good topic! Now i know i'm not the only one who's 'pushy' ;)

trust me most are like that but could hardly be blatant with it. i am glad that you re being so candid about it. And i bet you are not the only one who's being pushy.

When you are inside the room, you need to pull the door. If you are outside and trying to get inside the room, then either someone will pull the door for you or you can push the door to get in. But it also depends on the space and its function. So for example, a utility room or a closet,or any small areas, the door needs to be pulled. And for some who maximize space, they prefer sliding doors.
This applies to all structures in residential and commercial.
Exit or Emergency door is important for most commercial buildings for safety reasons, you need to push the door when you are inside and wants to go out. And you can pull the door when you are outside and want to get inside the building. People inside the building when in panic tend to push than pull.
I just thought to share this to most of you that doesnt know why some door needs to be push or pulled. But to answer your question, i tend to push than pull a lot. Since i dont get much visitor or sometimes my door is always open, so i dont need to pull a lot. have a great day too mimpi! :)

Well I always try to follow the instructions ,especially when opening doors which open both ways which are seen in malls or other public places.....But when no instructions are there, then I usually push it outwards,as mostly I will be having my shopping bags in my hand, and I try pushing gently with my foot,if my arms are not free....

hi there,
push or pull u mean those dooor whic open both sides like in malls or big shops..I will first read what is written on the door if it says push then push.If it says pull then pull.If the door is two way I always push the door when going in and going out. but if not written then it is first push than pull.
