hi mylotters! during the victory speech of President Obama, his wife Michelle Obama wore a bold red dress which is not conventional. some bloggers criticize the dress, some praise it. how about you, how do you find the dress? for me, i really like it. she carried it well.

I also read an article criticizing her for the red dress she wore during the victory speech. Well for me...that is not so important. That is her fashion statement and for as long as she dresses decently enough then she is entitled to her own preference. For as long as one is modestly dress, I find no reason to criticize anyone. Maybe I'd get disturbed if she was skimply dressed but so far I find nothing offensive with the way she dresses so no problem.

At first glance, I thought the dress was nice, but after looking at it for a while, I was not impressed. But who am I to say, I am not a fashion guru by no means. I was listening to the news this morning and the topic of her dress came up. One commentator said that the dress looked like a lava lamp. I think that was a rather rude remark. I say to each their own, everyone does not have to like it, it was her choice, so that is evident that she like the dress.

It wasn't my cup of tea, but I didn't see nothing wrong with it. It wasn't brazen, low cut, unbecoming of a first lady, and made you want to say, whoa!! what is that? It was just a simple dress. Like it or not, she dresses for herself and her comfort. Thank God no one talking about the kids and all.

I think the dress was not a good choice for Michelle Obama - or maybe, more to the point, wearing the sweater with the dress was not a good choice. Between the black sweater and the black cummerbund, it cut the dress into unflattering blocks of color that just didn't look good on her. To my mind, any time someone is wearing clothing that distracts me from the person, they've made a poor choice. Instead of focusing on the person, I was trying to figure out the dress. For the record, I felt the same way about John McCain's tie in the first debate - the red and white diagonal stripe just did funny things that made it look like it was crawling on camera.
