Is there such a thing as real employment from home?

I have recently found myself out of the workforce after doing the daily grind 50 to 60 hours a week for my employer. Now I am looking at testing the waters in the work at home arena. I have done self-paced schooling online and love the freedom of being able to work hard but still do it on my schedule. I have spent more hours than I probably should have swimming through the sea of working from home websites. What I am finding is a lot of pyramid schemes, websites that require either an unfront investment or want me to may anywhere from $25 to $100 for a "guaranteed" list of home jobs. Even survey sites that pay in points that take a year to accumulate to redeem for $5.00. I am just wondering if anyone has had any success at this? I am looking at different areas, freelance writing, data entry, accounting, that sort of thing. I have the skills and more than enough drive and ambition. I just don't want to keep wasting my time clearing out my e-mail box of all the scams in hopes of finding a legitimate company or group of companies that are looking for home employees. Any ideas out there in the myLot community?
