will ponting overcome sachin????

If Sachin can play, say 2-3 more years, it won't be easy for Ponting to pass his records. Ricky Ponting needs to play consistent cricket to do that. If Sachin can hold a uniform batting average of 50 from now onwards, he can add around 3000+ runs in next 3 years, which will be a great record for anyone to touch in the future.

No chance yar...pointing can't over take sachin record because sachin will play more then 2 odd years..and now a day's test game is happening in lesser number...so over coming sachin is impossible for him..so little master tops the list forever no worries..:)

it is very true that ponting is a good contendor to surpass the great sachin in terms of highest runs and centuries in test cricket. he has a lot of cricket left in him and he also has that potential. but, whatever it may be, ponting is far away from sachin interms of sportsmanship, the spirit of fair play and all other morals which are saturated in sachin and ponting is polls apart from them. thus, even if ponting catch stars in the sky, he can never be comparable to the great great sachin..

Well; Ponting does possess the capability to overcome Sachin's Record. However;it still remains to be seen .

Even though it can be reached, I think its going to be easy. Tendulkar has been playing since 16 years and he is 35 now and I think he is still left 3 more years to play. On the other hand Ricky Ponting is a great player, have good records, but I think he have to work hard. Mostly cricketers when they get old, loose their form a bit and not many could continue in the same way like what they have started. Tendulkar have a massive record in both forms of the cricket and I think it is going to be really difficult to go past Tendulkar record particulary in one day cricket.

I think ponting can break sachin record in test cricket if sachin stop play to cricket . Ponting is closest player to sachin in run . Ponting career is longer than sachin . Ponting needs to play consistent cricket .
