When commuting by bus/taxi/other PUV, have you witnessed any peculiar incident?

I commute a lot especially by bus going to the provinces. Once, I witnessed how a bus conductor (Baliwag Transit) had a quarrel with a (middle-aged) male passenger. It was just a verbal exchange at first because the man (who looked like a "bandit" to me wearing dirty clothes, hat, slippers, and must not have taken a bath for a week already...heheh) was asking why the bus was taking a different route. He demanded that the bus take him to his destination. The conductor explained (rather calmly) that there was a traffic situation, but the man was angry and won't listen to any reasons. Their confrontation became physical when the man suddenly kicked the bus conductor on the chest (it left a dirty "slipper sole" imprint on his uniform after that..heheh). Anyway, the poor bus conductor chose not to retaliate (holding back his temper) and probably to prevent any more commotion (as some female passengers were already nervously screaming---"hayy, dyos ko, tama na po"). The driver just stopped the bus at one corner, pacified the man (with the help of other passengers) and let him got off (there was also a time during their confronation when the man was about to draw something from his dirty bag...a gun?..nah..maybe he was just bluffing to scare the bus conductor).
How about you, any funny or troublesome incident you witnessed while commuting?

I also have experienced this incident in a bus. I was seating in front seat of the of the bus and I keep hearing this guy talking and talking. At first I thought he was talking with someone but I noticed that his voice was becoming louder and louder. I think he was talking about GMA, Erap and many political issues. when I look back I saw that he was just sitting along and talking by himself. Then some passenger started jeering him out he became rather violent and started shouting and then for all I know he was already furious with everybody. He was claiming to be an Iglesia and make threatening words and was asking everybody to go out of the bus. I went out of the bus to avoid the commotion then the conductor had called and MMDA to assist them from getting him our of the bus. When he was convinced to go out all the passengers went back in then the guy suddenly went furios again and tried to curse the bus but the door was closed for him and went off. He was running furiously and was even kicking the bus.

The poor guy must have mental health problems for him to act that way. At least, he did not ask for any "donation" from the passengers for talking in the bus like what many bus-hopping "religious preachers" (which I believe are scams) are doing along EDSA route. Heheh.

Gosh...kicked the conductor on the chest and left a shoe mark on his shirt? Talk about a real bad temper. lol Years ago I was riding a cab in Manila and a car accidentally hit the cab I was in. The driver of that car was getting away. I know... In total shock my taxi driver chased the car. He looked at me and went "I'm so sorry but I gotta do this...and you're my only witness...please bear with me". I was like "ok..." So we chased the car and at one point when the lights turned red my taxi driver got off and tried to talk to the driver of the other car right in front of us. The driver happened to be an American woman. She would not roll down her window looking shocked herself and scared because the taxi driver was speaking in Tagalog and kind of giving her a sign that they should talk about the damage she made on the taxi driver's car. She sped off instead soon as the lights turned green. The taxi driver got mad...he was like "I can't believe her...I can not pay for the damage!" So then we chased and chased her until the car entered the U.S. Embassy. OMG...i thought to myself...why am i being involved in this? I told the taxi driver that I need to be back at my office soon but he pleaded "No mam, please...you're my only witness, mam". The building security guards stopped the taxi and he got off the car to explain to the guards what happened so then they let us in. We waited a while and a few minutes later there was this american man who was walking over angrily mumbling "Where is he? Where is he?..." then he suddenly grab the taxi driver's shirt and went "You're the one who tried to scare my wife??? Who do you think you're going to milk for christmas? hah???" I could not believe what I was seeing. The taxi driver went "Sir, no, sir..." I felt so sorry for the taxi driver. I wanted to talk to the american guy right away but I felt kind of scared too. Then this other guy came over after and tried to calm the American guy. He then turned to me and said that he is the one assigned to handle the case so he asked me what exactly happened. I couldn't wait to tell him what happened so I did. After that he asked for my phone no. for further questions cause I said I needed to go. He then talked to the American guy and then after that the American guy approached me and went "I'm so sorry about that...my wife and I had this kind of experiences in the past...a lot of this people goes around and tries to get money and more money from us for whatever reason." I said I understand...it happens but I don't think he was trying to scare your wife back there on the road. He just wanted to talk to her as she might not be aware of what she did. He just nodded his head and walked away. I then later told the taxi driver that I needed to go. I had to insist the fare that I owe him cause he was refusing to take it. He looked so worried but kept on thanking me for helping him out. I never had good impression with taxi drivers in Manila but I could tell that that taxi driver is a good person.

Hahah. It must have ruined your day. Was the damage on the taxi so severe that the taxi driver was so desperate for tailing the American? Probably, the taxi driver has not met his "boundary" for the day yet. Heheh. But I admire your patience too for agreeing to be part of the chase and the ensuing dialogue with the American guy in the embassy.

nice and funny experiences. although, some are really scary, good thing nobody was hurt.
there was an instance when the bus i took going home, didn't realize that he hit an owner-type jeep. the passengers as well as the driver of that jeep were so furious that they all went down and chased our bus (we got caught on traffic then). those passengers all have stainless tube in hand and was cursing the driver, hitting all the lights of the bus (tail lights, front light, etc.) i mean, the driver havent even felt he hit something, he didnt mean it obviously. but the passengers of the jeep were still furious. my fellow passengers insisted that the bus take off and we did, really really fast. it was scary because the jeep passengers even want to get in the bus and hit the driver, which obviously is still surprised at what happened. but they didnt.

well, i had the same experience too.. there was a woman in dirty clothes rode the bus and yes, she stinks.. everyone covered their nose and the conductor asked her to leave the bus immediately.. the woman refused but the conductor insisted to get her out of the bus.. i feel sorry for her.. if only i got extra money that time i would pay for her fare.. there are some conductors who are kind of rude and it really annoys me.. yay!

The woman must be a vagabond or a beggar. There are many of those who just get on the bus with no intent of paying (for obvious reason). Yeah, I also feel sorry for her. But probably, she must have been a previous passenger on that same bus and the bus conductor was already familiar with her but did not want other passengers to complain because of her stinky smell (which becomes more intense if the bus is airconditioned).
One time, I also saw about 20 old "Igorot" women (in their traditional clothes) who at around 4 A.M., suddenly came out of NEPA Q Mart and got on different buses. They are obviously beggars and each one has her own destination in Metro Manila to beg for the day. I really don't understand why they (at their old age) needed to leave the Mountain Province just to beg in Manila.

Oh, wow! That looks like a scene from a movie!
My worst experience so far happened in a jeepney about 4 years ago. I was on my way to work and I usually take a jeepney as my mode of transportation every single day. Along the way, about 8 men got into the jeepney who happened to be pickpockets. I actually had no idea that they were pickpockets. I just noticed that one of the passengers immediately said "para" a few minutes after the said pickpockets hopped in. He looked nervous while going down the jeep and he looked at me like he wanted to say something. At that time, I was sitting just beside the entrance, I even thought of jumping but I was so confused at that time because I saw how these goons took the cellphone and wallet of the passenger in front of me. Lucky for me, I was sitting beside another passenger and not a pickpocket. The pickpockets exchange seats which made me more nervous. I just kept calm, hoping they wouldn't get something from me. After about 10 minutes, the pickpockets got off the jeep. The other passengers looked into their pockets and some of their wallets and cellphones were gone. Like me, they had no guts to make noise during the process. It was like a silent holdup. The driver told us that he can't say a thing also even though he had suspected what those guys were. I was like, oh my God! I just thanked Him because those pickpockets did not harm any of us.

I was riding in a tricycle to a nearby mall when the driver didn't stop when we reached the mall entrance ... curious, I looked at his side and discovered that a man rode on his back and placed a knife at the driver's back and told him to go straight until we arrive at a jeepney stop where he got off to ride a jeepney. It was scary and we're lucky we weren't hurt. Hopefully those in the jeep were safe as well. I'm thinking it was a shoplifter or something
