Lol, I know, sounds funny but most women do not know how to change a tire. I am one of those woman. I barely know how to check my oil. I guess I never worry about it because my husband takes care of all that stuff. I do need to learn though just in case something ever happend and I was stuck and needed to do it myself.
Are you a woman who is clueless about changing a tire and your oil? What about you men, are there any men out there who don't know how to change a tire?

Hi, I know how to check oil and pump air for the tires. But as to changing tires, it's only theory - I haven't done it before (hopefully never!).
I'm certainly terrified of anything happening to the tires (or car) in the midst of anywhere, and need to get help!

I absolutely do. And I have done it before for myself. My dad had a whole laundry list of things I had to be able to do before he would let me get my license as a teenager. I was so annoyed at him about that stupid list back then, but it turns out he made a pretty independent person out of me. (He also made me believe I was going to have to take my test driving a stick shift. The day I went for the test he handed me the keys to the automatic. )

Well, I know how to change the tire. I am of course a man. But certainly you have a point there. There are men who does not know how to do it. I have worked as a rescuer for quite a time. I do many things and of course changing a tire is something that is quite easy for me to do.

I'm a woman.
I know how to change a tire, jumpstart my vehicle, get my keys when I've locked them in my car and get gas delivered to me if I run out. My secret is 1-800-AAA-HELP. I love my AAA membership!!!
When I first bought my car, I learned how to change the oil, change a tire, check all fluids and change my break pads. I can do all of these things myself but choose to go to a service center (and pay my annual AAA membership) so I don't have to mess with any of it.
A AAA Membership is a good investment.

Those roadside assistance programs and a cellphone are good investments even if you do not use them all the time. I consider them like insurance, sometimes you pay for them and do not get your money out of them, but then when you need them they are invaluable to have.

I know how to change a tire, but I can't do it. Even knowing the physics behind it, I don't weigh enough to move the lug bolts lol

I've changed tyres in the past, but I'm on to the second car since the last one with no recurrence since (touch wood)..both cars since have had the spare wheel in a cage slung under the car,so are not the easiest to get to,but the idea does leave more interior space.Garages use air powered wrenches to tighten the wheelnuts,so can be overtightened for some people-ie,difficult if not impossible to remove..I'd recommend a wheelbrace that has or allows some way of extending your leverage for those tight nuts.you have a number of options...know how to do the job yourself,(and preferably do a test run on your driveway to ensure you have everything you need for the job,day or night),carry one of those aerosol repair cans at all times,or join a motoring club..A Woman I work with who was driving home alone at night got a flat in the middle of nowhere..Her Cellphone battery was flat so couldn't call home, she had no charger in the car,and was unwilling to attempt a replacement where she was,and so drove on home on the wheel rim..dunno how much the wheel cost Her!

I learned how to drive when I was 18. That time, it was my grandmother's idea that I got a driver's license. My dad didn't know about it. I studied driving on my grandmother's car, and got my lessons from an uncle and my grandfather alternately. But they didn't really like teach me closely. I had to learn things by myself. I asked too many questions, I asked what had to be done when there were problems with the car. I watched how they changed tires, how they put brake fluid, how they check oil and refill oil. I learned almost everything by myself. Well, since I was really interested to learn that time, I definitely learned how to change tires, and sometimes I would even try to do it by myself. However, when anyone spots me changing tires, well, fortunately, somebody volunteers to continue the job for me!

I have a general idea on how to change a tire, though I've never actually changed one before. I'm guessing I could, but not without yelling out some not so choice words while doing so, and of course getting frustrated in the process.
I know I should learn. Anyone that drives a vehicle should learn some of the basics that go with driving like changing the oil or changing a tire. It could save a lot of hassle in the long run.

Considering my brother was a ex-mechanic/painter/carpenter/entreprenuar. I had better know how to change a tire now. Especially since he gave me my first car. He taught be a lot about what to do, what to look for, what to expect when your vehicle is doing this or that. I'm very grateful for those valuable lessons he taught.
I'm also grateful my wife learned those things as well. Although I'm not sure if she knows how to change a tire, I do know she is industious enough to figure it out, push came to shove. She does know how to read instructions and follow them very well though. She is naturally a researcher so if there is information on how to do a certain thing, she can find it, read it, and know exactly what it will take to do it.

Yes, I know how to change a tire. I also know how to check and add fluids among other automotive things. When I was young, anytime my dad was tinkering under the hood I was there watching and asking questions. Also when I got married, I did the same with my husband. I actually did some rewiring because one of our cars didn't have any tail lights. Kind of amazed my husband with that one as well as myself.

Two years ago I was driving on a motorway, when suddenly my car started to go funny and I could hear my tire went. It was sunday morning, me going on a date with my boyfriend, dresse in white pants lol. I stopped on a side, took a cell and call my brother. I was helpless, didnt have a first idea what to do. So he told me I need to first put the sign by the road so others will see the car's broken down and it wont cause any accenedts. And he told me to put a tire so that others can see it and maybe someone will stop and give me a hand. They were just speeding by and waving to me lol noone stopped. I was so mad and wanted to change it my self, so my brother told me how to do it. I went on my knees...in my white pants, tried to change it...what else was I to do really. But luckily some road attendands drove by then and and helped me.
I still had gotten my pants all dirty :( Oh and by the way, I still dont know how to change a tire hehehe.

I learned how to change a tire when I was 13. Of course no one will be able to change a tire unless you have the given tools with you in the car at the time you need them. It's not like just being a master tire fixer will automatically fix the tire. I know how to change oil too, although I rarely do so.

I am independent woman lol. I learned to change a tyre when I learned to drive. I was terrified that I would get stranded on a night drive. It came in handy. I can check oil and water and basic stuff with the car. My hubby and I share or do together the household jobs.

Yes I know HOW to do it but that does not mean that I can. I am not very good at working the jack or pumping the tyre up and I know that knowing how is not the same as getting the damn thing working.
My partner knows how to change the tyres as well but that does not make it easy. That is why we belong to a roadside service that comes to the rescue at a phone call. If your jack does not work etc or the bolts will not come off then you are stuffed, especially if you are on your way out for the evening and you are on a rural highway.
I also know how to change oil but I prefer to get the garage to it

I don't know how to change a tire either! I don't even check the water level and oil! LOL. I just know how to drive the car and if something goes wrong then I'll call my dad and wait for him to come and get me. Heehee. That's why God created men-to help us clueless women! It's a give and take thing anyway because without us the men would starve and go to the office wearing their holey tshirts.

If you want to learn how to change a tire, I would suggest learning in your driveway on a nice warm day, you do not want to learn by the side of the road on a rainy night miles from nowhere. Do you know if you even have a spare tire and jack? As suggested, you should check the spare tire air once in awhile, not much good without air. I would also recommend an x type lug wrench instead of the ones supplied with your car as you can get more leverage with it.
