My cat is home from surgery

This is to let my friends know that Taj, my cat with teeth problems, had his teeth pulled today and is home. He isn't happy when we try to medicate him, but he did eat tonight some baby food and seems happy enough when we aren't "messing" with him. Please keep him in what ever it is you do, pray, glows, whatever, because the mouth ulcers are also on his tongue, under his tongue and on the roof of his mouth and back where there are no teeth. so, he may still have some trouble, but at least his teeth aren't going to collect plaque anymore.

awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww poor Taj. Surgery is supposed to help, not keep hindering. How did all those mouth ulcers develop? I mean, what caused them and can they be shrunk, removed, whatever so Taj can eat normally and without pain? Least part of his troubles are gone.

Wow! I didn't know that. Thanks for the info on it. So very glad to hear he's eating really good again. Hopefully, he will be able to eat canned cat food really good soon instead of just baby food. That stuff can get expensive after awhile.

Taj as stomititus. It is thought to be caused by the herpies virus and acts rather like an allergy to plaque. So, the normal course is to pull the teeth so plaque quits developing and lingering in the mouth. I do know he's digging into the baby food this morning!

Hi ElicBxn, Awwwwwwww. I'm so sorry to hear about Taj. He must feel so miserable, but hopefully he'll be on the mend now. It sure is hard to give meds to pets, as I found out this past summer. They don't realize we're trying to help them. I'll pray for his speedy recovery. Please let us know how he is. Take care.

i hope he is ok. does that mean we need to brush animal teeth now? or can we just give them some dental chewable food for pets that cleans their teeth?

Well, in Taj's case, it is a problem because he has these mouth ulcers that are caused by a herpies virus and act like an allergy to plaque. So, removing his teeth is the normal "cure" tho he had some pretty bad ulcers beyond around his teeth. I can only hope that he will get all better soon.

Awwww - the poor little guy!! I'll bet he's very uncomfortable. Did the vet tell you to avoid feeding him anything or make recommendations on what would be best until the ulcers cleared?

Sorry to hear that your dog lost 5 teeth. Taj seems much happier this morning - his mood is good, unless we are trying to medicate him!

Aww--Of course I'll keep Taj in my prayers. Good to hear that he is eating a bit. Goodness though, baby food is expensive. Is it the strained meat kind. Give hugs to Taj for me

Yeah, its the strained meat kind - he likes the beef best. He finished off last night jar of beef, at a whole turkey and is working on a can of cat food - meaty bits type. Mostly think he's drying it out!

The ulcers will clear up won't they ElicBxn? I certainly hope so for his sake. Poor little thing has to be miserable but it was done to help him although it makes him feel worse before getting better. You're a good kitty momma taking care of your furry friends! He's putting up a good fight because he's in a lot of pain still from his teeth being pulled and the ulcers hurt. Be patient with him because of that and the fact that he doesn't understand what's happening. Give him lots of love by just talking to him since he doesn't want to be touched so he'll learn you're not out to hurt him.

OMG how horrible for him. I hope by now he is so much better. I am glad he ate for you. Good luck with Taj. My friend took her cat in to the vet's yesterday because she was drooling and shaking. She had a large ulcer on her tongue. The vet said it was an air borne virus. I hope she will be OK.

Ouchers! Yeah, Taj had all these ulcers around his teeth on his gums. All his pretty, white, healthy teeth surrounded by red, raw ulcers. I felt bad about it, but... its the normal "cure" for this problem.

Oh poor Taj. It is bad enough to have teeth pulled but to also have a mouth full of ulcers makes it even worse until it is all healed. If only he knew that the medication is to help him. Wishing him a speedy recovery.

Poor kitty! I hope Taj heals quickly! What caused the uclers? Are there any diet restictions while he heals? If not, perhaps a bit of something frozen, or extremely cold, would feel good for him? My cat loves unflavored yogurt, so in the summer for a treat I partially freeze it for her. If your vet says ok to something like that, maybe you can mix the medicine in?

Taj has a condition called stomitius, it acts like an allergy to plaque on the teeth, its a form of herpes virus. The standard treatment is pulling the teeth. seems to have worked for Taj.

The tongue - We call this "the tongue shot"
Taj is 6 and a half. I've seen him eating kibbles even, so he's feeling much better. I don't have any real recent shots, but here's and older one.
