absolutely.
I find it very selfish when people keep an animal alive when all they have left is suffering, just because they will be sad when they are no longer here.
it's the last act of love you can give your beloved companions.
it's cruel to stand by and watch them struggling when there is no end to that suffering possible. that the rest of their life will be in pain.
could you stand by and watch an animal that you loved and that loved you, suffering. being in pain, and knowing that the pain could only end when they die.
it is an act of love, and gives some dignity to them in the end.
when you look at how some people linger and suffer at the end, you can't help but think they would prefer the dignity and the love of being allowed to go with no pain and suffering at the very end.
human being aren't granted the same dignity as loved pets.

Why do you find it disturbing? Please explain.
I would much rather see an animal put to sleep when it is suffering. Than to have to lay there and suffer. I acn not stand to watch and animal or person for that matter. It hurts my heart to much to see it.

I feel that animals too have feelings like anger or scared. When I see one that is about to be put off, I can sense that they are probably very afraid of what this white gown man or woman going to do to them. If they can talk, probably they will say "please let me live, I'll be alright". May be they get better, may be they won't. We never know. They are living creature, just like human being. They are not a thing that when it is of no use to us, we throw it away for good. We want what is best for them but how do we know what they want. For me, when they are dying, I rather care for them until they breath their last breathe. I once care for a very sick cat, almost dying. I brought him to the vet and they advice me to put it to sleep but I refused. I took it home and care for it. Somehow the cat survived. Miracle do happens.

If i know an animal is in pain and dying. There is nothing I can do for it. I will have it put down. There is no need to let an animal suffer just to die. Sometimes you just know there is nothing you can do, also you just know when an animal has given up on live.

no i find it disturbing too. No one has the right to kill any animal even if they are sick. Thats what i also use to think but you have to understand they do it for their betterment. Our suffering and animal suffering is alot different. You have to open your mind and look into it. Do you really want to see your animal suffer. I had a dog who turned blind due to an severe eye infection. My dad wanted it to go to sleep forever but i was against it. He didnt do it for my sake but the dog got worse everyday. I use to see him bump into things and hurt himself more. So i couldnt take it anymore. I did what my dad decided to do put him to sleep. I miss him till day and but i know he understood that i did for his betterment.

I understand places an animal to sleep when all else fails. But being blind is not one of them. An animal can be taught to watch out for thinsg when blind. It is like with people. You make sure they keep their thinsg in the same place and don't chnage the furniture around.
