is reading while lying not good for the eye?!

i was always scolded by my mother doing that thing. i always ask myself it that is really true because my eye are not yet damaged for a long time notw. lol

I often do my reading either lazing on the sofa, or lying on the bed. I think it's more the lights, rather than your position. If your lights are not bright enough, then it's more likely to harm your eyes.

I don't think so. I used to always read lying down because otherwise the light shining on the page was too much. If I held the book in the air, the light was blocked mostly. I can't read great in the dark, but sometimes I am totally unable to read if it is too bright. I remember back in high school one teacher tried to make me read on a bright day outside and I couldn't even see anything on the page other than shiny whiteness that blinded me.

My ex was in the eye care indrustry, it doesn't matter how you are sitting or laying it won't effect your eyes. Low light won't either except maybe cause you to strain a bit. a lot of what our mothers told us was to scare us more than anything!
