Be it a student or an employee, people expect you to give your best in whatever work you have been entrusted with.
Presently, I am part of a group activity where a self appointed leader is making a thorough mess of it. Its a play where we are portraying the unfavourable impact of reality shows on a big segment of people and mostly students, who miss out on their precious semesters for the lure of all that it entails. All other characters (including me) are not happy with the way it is being handled. Firstly, the script is not proper and dialogues fail to create an impact. Then the conclusion lacks the exact message it has to convey.
Two of our seniors are very experienced and talented. They had prepared a good script but the "big bully" refuses to listen. Everyone is in awe of him and no one dares to defy. Ridiculous! The result is that the researsals are lacklustre and so, I don't know how its going to sparkle at the main event where many other institutions are participating too.
I was wondering what you would have done in this situation?
Do you think it is easy to perform well, given the circumstances? Or, Am I and others are overreacting?

am a student of university of madras .. and am doing my master degree in management..
and its sure and proven that the real and effective results will not be there until a full participation and co ordination is there in the system.... myself as a student strongly believe that the real skill lies in convincing others with what they are given.... if u cant convince them then sure that u are not gonna get best results from the employee....
so every managers and leaders should have A SUPERB conceptual skill.

Co-ordination is another important thing which is somewhat present. yes! So many times we feel tempted to refer the matter to the teachers and administration. But it can spoil the atmosphere and that too could result in the same......
Well said sabkarl. Our leader should read this.
Thanks friend

Sometimes it's merely a "mind over matter" situation, and all you need to do is tell yourself that it WILL be a great production, and that you WILL do a great job. Your enthusiasm will spread like wildfire, and should make a huge impact in the overall success. By overall success, I am mostly referring to the enjoyment factor of the participants.

Thanks CanadaGal for the motivating words. I know what you are referring to makes a great deal of good inspiring sense.

I've been a situation similar to this where I was in a student play where the director refused to listen to anyone else. In the end we just performed the play as best we could but it was a small disaster. Does your play count towards your course? If it does I would suggest that you go above the leaders head to a lecturer or something becuase it could put your mark in jeopardy. If it's just for "fun" I would grin and bear it and do your best! hope things work out!

Its not going to count towards my course but it is important in the sense that winning could fetch us certificates along with other different club activities (eg; music club, social service (nss),tech club etc etc.) which could prove an important pre-requisite for selection in certain advanced studies in premier universities. Even for fun,it should be funny enough.
