I've known for a few months my heart has been beating differently than it had before. I was in seeing the Dr. for something else, and when she listened to my heart, she immediately heard it and referring me to a cardiologist. After doing a short EKG, he says I have Premature Ventricle Contractions, which happen so often it warrents further testing. If it weren't happeneing so often, he says it likely wouldn't be anything serious. Does anyone else have this? Does it effect your life in any way?
Thanks for the response.

Hi, I have also had PVCs. I went through the "further testing" and they did not find anything significant. I know that a lot of people have PVCs. They are just irritating and bothersome. When I first was diagnosed with them, I was really afraid I would have them for the rest of my life or at least have the "discomfort (not pain)" for the rest of my life. My doctor gave me some medicine to take. I think now it has been about 5 years and I really do not notice them that much anymore. I am sure they are still there but either they are less frequent or I have gotten so used to them that I don't think about it. They don't really affect your life that much, it's sort of like having a headache. If they do bother me, I just rest/lay down and that helps. I hope you have a similar experience that I did and in time you won't notice them or they will resolve. I think my doctor told me to avoid caffeine but I still drink sodas. I think it would help to avoid any food or beverage that may cause increased problems such as caffeine and salt.

Thank you momiecat! It's nice to hear from someone who gets them. Before my Dr. discovered it, I was very away that they were happening and was going to mention them to her if she didn't hear it. They are very annoying and just like you say - discomfortable but not painful. I've had them since Dec., but they seem to be happening much more often now. Are you still taking the medication? What kind did they prescribe for you? I really hope mine resolve like yours did. Unfortunately, mine seem worse when I'm laying down instead of when I'm active.

Well, is that just the symptom you feel? that your heart has indifferent heartbeat? nothing more? what about pain in your chest? I am just wondering because sometimes I felt pain on my chest, I did a EKG 2 years ago and my heart is fine but lately I felt pain. It is tolerable though. I did not suspect of anything except gas pain maybe.. LOL.. Just wondering what else did you feel?

Please stay under a doctor's care and tell him/her that you are having pain. It could just be muscular pain but you don't know until your doctor checks into it. I don't want to alarm you but my grandfather (67 years old) thought his pain/discomfort was just gas and he had a heart attack. You just want to be cautious and take care of your health, so please keep seeing your doctor.

I am sorry to hear of your heart problem, I hope that all turns out to be OK. Over the years I have noticed I get stages where my heart feels like it is fluttering or missing a beat, well when I was pregnant this was picked up but when I had the machine on me it was fine. I was really relieved about it because I had thought it was going to be something serious.

I used to have those when I was younger and the doctors all said nothing to worry about but I did anyways. I found that getting rid of caffeine (I did allow myself a couple of cups of tea, not too strong) in coffee, tea and soft drinks. I also found regular aerobic exercise helped. If I did not exercise for a few days, the PVC's returned. I was never on medication for it though but had it under control. They were probably not as fequent as yours.
They might find an underlying condition that is causing this and you may have to go on medication.
The last few years however I developed Supra Ventricular Tachychardia which does affect my life because if I over do anything it causes symptoms as I have other arythmias now. I take medication for it but try to cut it down to as little as possible because the meds make me tired.

My boyfriend had some heart issues when we started dating and ended up in the hospital with terrible issues that he needed surgury for. IT was scary, but the doctors and God took care of him now he exercises more and what not.
My brother also had heart problems that effected his life, but he needed a pace maker which I don't think you would need. But I tellin you this because the doctors will take cre of you and I'll keep you in my prayers.

I dont have that but I have been in the hospital three times in the past three weeks becuse of my heart. I had pneumonia which spread to my heart casuing me to have a heart infection. Its called paracarditis. Which is swelling of all the tissue that is all around the heart with liquid on the lung. It was making my heart beat weirdly, sometimes too fast, sometimes irregular, and sometimes it would just feel weird in my chest. Now i get this infection randomly and never knew what it was until now. Ive had heart ultrasounds..like 932847 blood tests, and i was on that heart monitor. I thought i was having heart attacks at 18 thats how bad it was. Im sure what you have isnt too serious and after the testing is all done and over with they will find a medicine that will make your heart beat regularly. If I was you I wouldnt stress over it too much. I scared myself because the pain was unreal and I thought it was really serious and found out there was a bunch of pills that would make everything better. Good luck with everthing. Feel better and Im sure its nothing!
