How many scientific names can you still remember?

My first exposure to scientific names was when I was in second year high school. That was the biology subject in particular. My grade in that subject was average. I really hate to study life of all organisms. I find it very boring. Then when scientic names were introduced, I almost fell asleep inside the class. I asked our teacher the importance of scientific names. She answered, this is very important but that was all. She did not enumerate the importance. I do not know if I will be able to apply it in my life in the future. Right now, I realized that it is not really applicable to me. Even if I don't like scientific names, still I can remember a few. These are the following: mango---Mangifera indica; papaya---Carica papaya; teak tree---Tectona grandis; tamaraw/tamarao---Tamarindus mindorensis; marijuana---Cannabis sativa; rice---Oryza sativa; gartersnake---Thamnophis elegans; mouse---Mus musculus; chicken---Gallus gallus; rhesus monkey---Macaca radiata; zebrafish---Danio rerio; coconut---cocos nucifera; and banana (saba)---Musa sapientum. There are other scientific names in which I can remember but I do not know what organisms are they. These are very familiar to me because almost everyday I meet them. They are as follows: Caenorhabditis elegans, Eschirechia coli, Saccharomyces ceverisae, and Staphylococcus locci. One of the reasons why I remember all these things is that I always encounter these in my work. Everyday I am reading different science articles and they are always there. Even if I don't like these things, I don't know why I can still remember them. I cannot stay away from them. How about you? How many scientific names can you still remeber?
