When I read Pride and Prejudice, by Austen Jane, it was already an old book., but I liked it cause I idntified with the author, a british woman who was just like the main character. She was not always corret in her judgement about the way life was, although she had strong points. I still liked to read about how she felt and what she understood. Her constant wry observations about what she encountered, captured the essense of the middle class at her time. In many ways, we still have the challenges in life thought it has already been in the 21st centuary!

I re-read many books. I love to read the Hitchikers Guide to the Glaxy series over and over again. I have also found an author called Robert Rankin whose books I read more than once. At the minute though I want to re-read Goeorge Orwells 1984 and Animal Farm. I've never really enjoyed Jane Austens books but understand why many people do.

Oh, really? Austens' books are great! I guess this is one of the reasons that I find it fanstasic to know its culture.

Granted, taste is individual. Different people like different things. Actually, I watch a movie called " Jane Austen" or "Jane". Accordingly, I found that Jane Austen was an special writer. After reading her books, I knew I was right. hehe
Have a great day!

For me it would have to be the Harry Potter series! I loved reading Harry Potter, because for me it's fantasy and escapism, I don't like historical reads or heavy going books like Shakespeare, I don't do the literary classics, I steer clear of them, I like a nice easy going read where I can understand the plot, the characters and be part of the story. I fell in love with the Harry Potter books and I have all 7 in my collection and will never get bored of them.

Oh, really, great to know that. I don't like shakespeare's books either. More of us should keep a childlike innocence. It is great!

Hi hiddenwing, I like reading the classics too and Jane Austin was an excellent author. I really like the stories of Charles Dickens and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. I also like some of the plays of William Shakespeare, but I haven't read them all. You are right that people have the same basic problems, even though we have so much more today. Blessings.

I have read Oliver Twist, written by Charles Dickens. His writting was really great. Maybe there were some romances in Janes' books. Thus, lots of people prefer Janes' books to Charles', me inclued!
Have a nice day.

It sounds very nice. When I have enough, I will read the book. There are lot of books that I have never read.
