Taking notes is a big part of being a student whether you are a high school student or a college student. I'm a college student and I like to take notes by hand and then rewrite them later, making them more neat and so on. How do you like to take notes?

hi! i am also a college student but sad to say, i don't like to take notes. i only buy 1 small notebook for my 9 subjects. i have a tiny hand writing and i can make use of my notebook by writing all the important reminders in every subject. i only take notes in my major subject. i am fond of understanding the lessons well during discussion rather than analyzing it again by reading my notes. good luck to your studies!

Thanks for the encouragement. You must save a ton of money on paper.

All of my friends laugh at this, but I take one of those old recorders that were used in like the 90's and I record all of the lectures, then listen to them, and write down the most important topics. I find that this is much easier for me and in the end I get pretty high scores on the tests!

Nothing wrong with that. I've done that in the past and it's really helped me. I attend an online college now and so I can't record the classes per se.

In my classes I Take hand-written notes which I then type up at home on my laptop later in the week. The reasons I do this is because it means I have neater and more coherent notes than the ones I have taken in the class. My handwriting is not the neatest in the world! Also I ind that by typing up my notes I re-read them and this helps me to take inormation in, which will help me later on when it comes to revising or my exams

I don't put mine on the computer much, or if I do, I print them out and put them in a binder so that I have them available even when not on the computer.

I do it the same way you do it, robin. At times, I write really fast in class, and I'm always afraid that when exam time comes, that I won't understand what I've written down. So that's why I'll take notes in class on a piece of lose leaf paper and copy it down in a notebook later. It reminds of what when on in that class that day. And it's another way to study, for me.

I agree; it helps the terms and important parts stick in my head and sometimes I can visualize my notes and remember what was in them during a test. Not exactly a photographic memory, but something along those lines.

I do the same too when I was in college. I have a scratch paper that I write to take down notes then once I get home...I transfer it to new paper. Most of the times the answers to the exams are from the note takings you've had.

I just usually try to write down all of the important things but it does not help if you have a lecturer who says everything only once without repeating it. I'm not a big fan of rewriting but I do sometimes rewrite parts of my notes so that it is easer for me to find all important information in one place. Like on 2 pages instead of 10.

Yes, instructors that go too fast and who do not repeat the important things make note taking harder and can make you frustrated.

I do the exact same thing. When im in class its usually a mad dash to get down all the information the professor is saying but then some of it wont be usuful. So usually right after lectures i go to the libraray and copy my notes from the lecture onto my computer. By doing this I exreacr the useful informtaion from the useless and im also actively absorbing the information again. Then when it comes time to study, instead of going through all those messy notes I have all mynotes in one convinient location from which i can study. It really is an awesome system, and i think everyone shouls give it a try
