I checked out the discussion groups on the "Movie"forums and found sagebrush blowing across an open desert, so this TV Forum is where I'm setting up shop.
For starters I can't think of any better soundtracks than that of Ennio Morricone for his work on Sergio Leone's movies and Bernard Herrmann's for his work on Hitchcock's movies.
[Three Questions about your favorites]
1...Name of movie?
2...Who scored the soundtrack?
3...Which soundtracks stand on their own well enough to just play on your stereo?

I love the soundtrack to Glaiator which is scored by Hans Zimmer. His work is amazing he has also done Pirates o the Caribbean films. Another ilm I love is Romeo and Juliet and the score there is done by Craig Armstrong, another amazing composer both Zimmer and Armstrong know what they are doing and their music just its perfectly with the film. The only other sountrack I own for a ilm is to Cold Mountain and the soundtrack is composed by Gabrieal Yared. The soundtrack for that is beautiful I love to listen to it when I relax.
