I am fairly new here and when I set up my interests I picked beauty. So when I started reading this discussion group I realized it is about cosmetic beauty. Boy did I miss the boat. First let me say that I think women in general are beautiful, and being a man I have little understanding of cosmetics. I take photos but not of people and was thinking of a different type of beauty. Recently I took some photos of the wild horses on the Yakama Indian reservation and consider these animals beautiful,I also took some photos of a stream in the high desert with the colors of fall and this was exceptionally beautiful. I believe beauty can be found in almost anything if you look for it. When I first relocated to Yakima from Vancouver I was totally disappointed due to the lack of beautiful trees and rivers. I was determined to find the beauty of the high desert with all it's shades of brown and beige. I soon discovered the green valleys of many fruits....apples, cherries, pears, grapes, and hops surrounded by these amazing hills and mountains of the high desert. I have found the beauty of the high desert and the most important part of the discovery is I have found a unique canvas or pallet for my photos. I have also found the beauty in missing the boat, as I have an opportunity to learn the importance of the cosmetics you ladies love and hang out with beautiful women now thats what I call beautiful *smile*

You will get a star soon. It just indicated how many people mark your comments and posts with the positive sign or the negative sign. The best rank you can get in 10, so keep posting and you will get there.
I had a 10 once, I guess my quality posts have gone down hill.
I would suggest not posting in political or religious discussions if you want to reach a 10. People tend to be very emotional in those areas and are likely to rate you poorly based on your party or religion.

I think I prefer your definition of "beauty". I agree that the concept of beauty should extend beyond the physical attractiveness of a person, especially the kind of beauty that is enhanced by cosmetics or other unnatural means.
Maybe if more people could learn to develop an eye for beauty--I mean this in the artistic sense--in our surroundings, then maybe they could also be more receptive to seeing true beauty in a person. In doing so, we could learn to develop our own sense of personal beauty rather than following what the media would have us believe is "perfection".
You may think you missed the boat...personally I think you hit the nail on the head.

I am a great fan of beauty and include the physical attractiveness of people as part of things beautiful. I agree that being more aware of those things of beauty that surround us everyday would enhance the ability to see the beauty within a person. I am by no means anti cosmetic, however I think laughter is much more beautiful than eyeliner or lipstick. Thanks for the comment. I felt like when I walk into this discussion group that I had prepared for the party but it was a business meeting.......if you get my drift.

Admire you much of appreciating the beauty of everything and even the beauty of missing the boat, by having the opportunity learning the importance of the cosmetics...love your line, thinking that women in general are beautiful...Am not much in cosmetics, I preferred to be simple. Simplicity is beauty, Isn't it? (smile)

I think your discription of beauty is much better than makeup and artifical beauty. I am a woman and I Love Nature, So I'm with you on the Beauty thing. Your Photography is Really Great, as s your subject matter.
