My husband and I had a discussion with my mother in law about this. She is a very religious mormon. She believes that smoking will kill us. But on the other hand that God will take us when he is ready to. So is it Gods will to take you when he wants or is it the smoking that will kill us? In my opinion smoking will not kill me it will be something else. There have been so many people in my life that have smoked for over 50 years and it did not kill them. So what is your opinion and why?

Both at different reasons. Smoking does kill that is a true fact! People who smoke and that die from it cause themselves to be in the grave earlier than their time to go! So, in this case, it is not God's doing.. It is their own fault. Smoking is very dangerous to ones health. It is best to avoid it all all costs!

Smoking can kill you, but maybe it wont.I have been a smoker for quite a long time but have given it up these past 4 months. Like my Mother who was also a smoker and gave it up, I now suffer with a bad chest. I have a terrible cough, and knowing from experience that it will stop if I smoke,I am often tempted to do so. I really dont care either way. Besides the chest, at the moment my pocket is a little better for it.!!!!LOL!!!!

It does not matter if god will take us one day or not, the simple thing is that smoking is injurious to health,it spoils your health and can even kill you.

There is no way to know how you will die. A lot of people do die from illnesses and diseases caused by smoking, it doesn't mean that you WILL die from it though - it simply increases your chances of it. It's really your choice whether you want to smoke or not. I'll just tell you though, I have an aunt with emphysema (which is caused by smoking) and it is pretty horrible. She can barely breath most of the time and generally spends most of her life in bed or in a wheel chair.

Well, If You have studied the structure of lungs...There are small Balloon like structures in our lungs...if we smoke too much, They starts to fuse with each other and Creates Obstacles for respiration, And Thus leads to several diseases like Asthma, Which, In Serious cases may kill someone."Depends on people to people" And that means, If the person is too sensitive, Then it will harm him even he is around the people who smoke.

Of course smoking kills you. It is a scientific fact. It causes cancer. If you are smoking you should stop. Sometimes if you stop your lungs will heal and you won't get cancer.

Just because you might have a spot of cancer does not mean that it kills you or affects your life. My grandmother had a little spot of cancer for over 20 years and it did not affect her. Also is it not God that decides when and how you are killed? Thanks for your post.

Hi friend,
It is true that smoking really kills our lives. It effects our lungs and sometimes cause cancer in our body. The person who smokes by himself doesn't effect but also it effects others who lives beside him or her all the time. You mother in law said is true that no one knows that when we die or when one born.It is really a big mystery that even today no one knows.By this we can belief that God is there.Without him this world could not run by itself. We should thank him for giving this opportunity.
If you have time try to help others with what you have.Life is short so enjoy each and every moment and always thank God for giving us this wonderful life.
Have a nice day
Enjoy each and every moment in life.

Smoking can kill you but it does not kill everyone. It is a maybe not a definite. However, if you get bronchitis and continue to smoke then you will get emphysema and it will kill you eventually. I know this because when I got bronchitis my Doctor told me. Bronchitis is first level lung damage caused by smoking and if you stop then your lungs can repair themselves but if you do not stop then you will get emphysema and that is second level lung damage and your lungs get too damaged to repair themselves.
It is not a nice way to die as your lungs drown in liquid. Now not everyone who smokes gets this. Smoking can cause lots of different illnesses that can kill but there are people who smoke who never get sick. No one knows why.

First, I should say I do not like smoking. I do not smoke myself and do not like my friends smoking in front of me. Your mother in law said smoking will kill you, well, I think what she means is not that smoking will kill you but smoking is really harmful to you.
There is some people smoking everyday, and nowadays the number of smoking people is getting less and less. More and more people realize that smoking is not good to themselves and their families and even other people.
I think your mother in law wants you to quit smoking, it is really good for your health.
