I wouldn't want my girlfriend to be a chain-smoker but she can smoke occasionally.
It would be troubling if she would be a chain-smoker and embarrassing in some sort.

I am sorry but I feel that he has to stop himself. 
Nagging and begging doesn't help I know because I did theses things myself. I did however get my husband to stop smoking in front of the kids actually he didn't smoke in the house at all. When I quit the second time myself he did as well.
