I have to say that my parents have enough on their plate without having to try to help me out financially. They do all they possibly can, but for the most part, I try to take care of things myself, and I would never ask them to co-sign for a loan for me. We are a very close family, but we do respect certain boundaries.

you are quiet right.. because in older days people always go for earning.. they where less educated.. but now even though they are educated they are just going after there parents. but i cant say all only less. usually the parents have to teach them how to be self reliant

Since young, I already have this concept - once we started working, we have to take care of our parents. Even though my parents are still richer than me, we have to give them some money (as allowance) every month, just to show our care and responsibility. Ever since I started working, when I go out with my parents, I try to pay for the bills too. I just think it's my responsibility to do so. Well, perhaps I was born just before 1980. But I did borrow money from my dad for the down payment of my house, I couldn't afford to pay the down payment. and I am sure going to return the money to him once I've got enough money to do so.

Hmmm........... talking about dependency on my parents , I think I have come a long way from being dependent on my parents to a totally independent guy. Now I go to a college. I arrange for all my monetary requirements including my fees and lodging all by myself. I have hardly even visited my home in the past 4 years. I think now I am a guy who can very well survive in this world of intense competition all by myself.
