Unless your absolutely closer to him, there wont be anything you can do. You have to get on his level... and I don't mean become a drunk. I mean you have to be close enough for him to trust your opinion.. only then will he listen when you tell him it's time to get help. He can't hear it from a distance relative or else he will get offended. Try to get closer to him without mentioning his problem for a while. Once the time is right, then try to reach him.

if u really know him too deep,try something u can do to influence his feelings. try to know the main reason of him to start this drinking habit.
